By some miracle, Carling didn’t outright reject this notion, even after my shenanigans last week.
I’m in! Thanks Tom.

I’m in! Thanks Tom.
Also not a great day for me but I’m not far and would love to check out Granite!
It is a tough day for the Dads. Should I put you in Saxe?
Sorry no, can’t make it. Another time!
We’re back to rakes in the bunkers and flag removal at my club in Alberta as of yesterday, I’ve kinda gotten use to putting with the flag in, will definitely blame that if I putt poorly this weekend
Fuck that.
Also, I’ve been saying for YEARS that unless you are playing in an elite amateur or professional event you should have to keep the flagstick in. No reason to pull it.
I would leave it in unless it was blowing around in the wind or the shadow was a problem.
Damn - already have a game lined up with my Pops. Gotta try to get up there soon! Thanks for throwing the offer out there Tom.
They’ve gone back to normal at the private clubs here in Vancouver too, still no rakes and the pool noodle cups at the public courses though. Cant wait to hear the ball hit the bottom of the cup again.
Also in dumb Canadian Covid policy most of the courses still have their practice putting greens closed other than for the group on deck… so I can go to a restaurant now but I can’t hit 30 minutes practicing my putting.
I’m on Vancouver Island and my home club still has no rakes, and flag has to stay in, but we haven’t had the putting green rule in place since last June, which is nice.
We started off not being able to use the range or green outside of 30 minutes of our tee time when we reopened after lockdown in May 2020.
@duncmitchell with the ho hum birdie on the 8th at Granite. The guy plays more private golf than the C Suite.
Don’t forget the four mega-lip outs too! Those Granite cups were cut with a razor - sharpest edges I’ve ever seen…
Thanks for a great day out there Tom - was a pleasure to see you, and the course was a blast.
Thanks for the invite & the game @tomwhita and the company @duncmitchell on Sunday. Was perfect weather, a casual 3h40, great track and a couple of patio pints after!
In today’s news in NS, gotta love when the province pulls the plug on loosening COVID restrictions at the last minute yet again because the Premier’s gotten into a political pissing match with NB’s Premier! Definitely the kind of leadership you want!
Checking in from our nation’s capital. Playing in the Flagstick Open. Couldn’t make it into the 1st Division but that’s probably good since I shot a pedestrian 82 today.
Gonna stop by the PM’s place tonight and ask him about removing the pins.
Looks like Sagebrush will be open by end of July. Combine that with Covid rules being relaxed and being allowed as a guest at private courses (Maybe we can actually remove pins again too?!) and the border re-opening and that’s when golf season is really going to begin for me.
Also this might be the first time ever that it’s been too hot for me to golf in Vancouver… Tomorrow in Vancouver is supposed to be 39 - Feels like 47
Yup. Glad I decided to stay in and watch KPMG,…yesterday was my worst whoop score day. Couldn’t move in the heat!
That’s brutal, do you guys usually get that high at all in the summer. Plus the humidity?
Nope.
Normally it’s a heat wave if Vancouver gets to 30 so this is insane.
It’s the first time all year that it’s easy to get a tee-time at every course, but it’s already so hot I’m not even going to go practice this morning.
Heading to Invermere Wednesday when the high is forecast at 42.
It’s a relatively mild 37 in Calgary then. All time high is 36.5.
