Roll Call: The Duck Club | Canadians, Beer and Cow Pastures

The big question is, if (when) we do a full Duck Club event, where shall it be?

The seemingly obvious candidate might be Cabot, with a side of Highlands Links and party in Halifax. It is out of the way for virtually everyone, but since Cliffs is the best course in Canada, and Links isn’t far behind, seems too good to pass up. Highlands Links also a quintessential Thompson!

Other options:
Southern Ontario
Rockies
Whistler
Vancouver Island???

Honestly, I think Cabot. Big trip for everyone really.

I’m trying to sell that one to the wife.

That one is, I think, more a western Canada focused one. But, sure yes everyone come this summer!

I’ve been lurking in this thread for a while. All this Winnipeg/Manitoba slander is forcing me to emerge from this frozen hellscape. We have lots of stuff going for us… Affordable housing and uhhh other stuff I cant think of right now.

Brewing! The brewery scene there is dope. Also, all along the river is lovely. And Assiniboine Park is mega. Plus, great architecture downtown. And a subterranean network of tunnels.

Actually, the Mint is freakin’ awesome as well. The tour through there was fascinating and legit one of the cooler infrastructure-type things I’ve ever seen.

My guy!!! The brewery scene has really popped off in the last 5 years and I am here for it. The Forks is also awesome all year round. Skate on the river in the winter, enjoy some drinks on the patio in summer. Golf scene in Winnipeg kinda sucks unless you join a private club in the city or drive outside the city.

I remember when Canada was sooooo incorrectly smug about our beer compared to the US on the basis that Keith’s was better than Coors or some bullshit, when in fact there were many States that liberalized their laws enabling micro-brewing to thrive much sooner than in Canada and their beer scene was a million times better. Now, this has changed (in most provinces as I understand) across Canada and micro-brewing is thriving. Love it.

UWO. Or what used to be UWO. Now just WU I believe. Either way Western is best overall…it’s not close

Did not attend but everything I’ve gathered as my daughter researched schools, my own history, experiences and run-ins… I would agree that Western is one of the premier schools in the land.

I’m sorry, sir, but the actual phrase goes:

“If you can walk, talk, and suck a cock, you can go to Brock. But if you do it faster, you can go to McMaster.”

Did I have a Brock Homecoming shirt with that phrase on it? I absolutely did.
