I’ve heard Queens is really fun
Radio and Television and Theatre too. That theatre program tears people apart.
I have a theory that every bar eventually ends up as a Rexall.
You’re not the first

Although I wouldn’t refer to The Brunny as a great dive bar
Engineering students are fucking weirdos wherever they are, I think. At Queen’s they dyed themselves purple. I think it has to do with how hard their programs are, they have to psych themselves up through very strange behaviour.
I was more of a Lab guy. $3 mixed drinks just across the street.
Green Room if you wanted some rats running across your feet at your table.
Yea. I did my undergrad and 2/3 years of my J.D. at Queen’s.
I still think them kicking their jackets home when they get them is stranger than the purpling.
Not just Queen’s

I shaved an eyebrow off shortly after this
Agree with everything said here, Calgary is by far the best value city in Canada. The food and culture have definitely improved in the last 10 years, but there is still incredible bang for your buck there too. Big renovations to the Glenbow Museum, Arts Commons, a new conference centre and a new events centre on the horizon should only help further this. I grew up in the burbs, but now live closer to downtown right by the rivers and I don’t think I will ever be able to move too far away, so many great walking paths and stops along the way. Winter is definitely the downside, and it can brutal at times, but most people pick up a winter hobby and we have some of the best areas in the world for those hobbies. Plus it’s usually a sunny winter and you get respites like this weekend where it was +7
My roommate’s got tossed under a bus and was broken before he even got it back to res. #sick way to spend $500 (or whatever it is)
(Should probably add for context that upper years try to make it as hard as possible to get them back to res. Tie them to benches, etc. and you can’t use your hands. Strange breed/no offence to anyone)
Dance Cave was my bar of choice. Apparently they had great whiskey sours for $4…they didn’t.
Sheesh. That’s pretty brutal.
I really love how steeped in tradition the program is, but it treads an incredibly fine line.
Best bar in Toronto (at the time, maybe still if it exists). We’ll have a good Dance Cave conversation some day.
I spent a lot of time at the Green Room. Perhaps too much.
Everything about this. I miss Calgary, and the point about winter is the most important one I think. Winter is tough, but access to those mountains completely shifts the perspective. I’ve hiked Yamnuska every month except Feb, and obviously the skiing is world-class - winter is awesome!
Chinook: Blackfoot for “thank fucking god for this warm air”
Turns out it’s still around (according to google maps) somehow I’ve also managed to never go to Lee’s Palace despite it just being downstairs
No no no. I was accepted into law school. While, in the state of Alabama that may mean I can practice law, I am most certainly not a lawyer.
I get paid to tweet things.
Man I love a good whiskey sour - that’s one thing I can’t manage at home and can’t wait for post pandemic
Incredible venue. The Hip, Chili Peppers, Nirvana, 2008 UofT Battle of the Bands. People are saying all were legendary concerts.
