Whatever you do, no matter the price or deal to play 36 you are offered, do not play the south course at Innisbrook. Island course is a fine compliment to Copperhead.
Massive second to this. Donât play the south course for any reason.
For higher end try both Lake Jovita and Southern Dunes. Manageable drive times and your best bet after Copperhead.
As others have mentioned, Southern Hills Plantation is worth the effort as well.
This place https://www.countrywaygc.com/ is close to you and very fun. Similar conditioning to Rocky Point but a lot more enjoyable. Itâs a throwback to a bygone era if youâre looking to have a good time.
Iâd be curious what kind of shape Lake Jovita is in these days. @DombrowBryan @Asimpson3 and myself played there a while back and it was in awful shape.
i played the south there about 3 weeks ago and it was in great shape.
That place seems to have wild swings in terms of what kinda shape itâs in. I played in the beginning of September and they were discounting the tee time price if you mentioned something they had put out on Facebook about the course being in rough shape. The course ended up being fine and i wouldnât have complained, but I also was only paying like $80 to play. I think they knocked off 20 cause we mentioned it lol. Found the entire thing strange that theyâve had enough people complain that they set that up like they did instead of just dropping the prices of the round until they fixed the issues.
Letâs be honest. The whole damn place is in a time warp. Two steps forward, one step back. 7 types of sand in the bunkers and the worst range in central Florida. They usually overseed about 27% of the golf course with no discernible plan but who am I to say?
However, if you call into the shop and ask for a fair assessment of the course conditions theyâll shoot you straight. Really nice terrain on both course with some thought provoking holes. Would love to see a new owner bring it up to speed. Perfect affordable retirement community if they polished it up a bit.
Iâve noticed the same thing on the bunker sand. They seem to do a lot of interesting stuff maintenance wise but it is what it is. The other thing that threw off our group was the bar and restaurant closing at like 4:30 on a Saturday. I get what kinda community the course is in, but 4:30 on a weekend is tough.
Like others have stated - avoid TPC Tampa at all costs. Plenty of other options.
Innisbrook - Copperhead and Island are good. Avoid the other 2 courses there.
Love Mission inn, but its quite a drive.
Dunedin is a fun public course, but conditions are always iffy(brother is a member there).
Could look into Fox Hollow as an option as well.
Appreciate all the suggestions! Staying far away from TPC now and let you all know what we end up doing! Looking forward to it, never been to Tampa before.

Sneak Peek at the Trophies:

Live just north of there and would love to try either of those. Tried to DM you but it doesnt let me? Maybe Im a fool?
I think Iâll be playing the 16th and 17th at TP if you and anyone else is interested. Just need to confirm a couple things first. Let me know if one of them works for you.
I should be around, Iâm going to try and make my way out to the after work event tomorrow.
Hello Tampans!
Iâm heading down to St. Pete in april for a wedding and wondering if anyone had any recos for courses? I could obviously make the drive to Streamsong or Cabot citrus potentially, but wondering if there are any interesting/different/not $400 courses around
Cheers
I found the affordable public golf in Tampa to be meh. There is the Club at Cheval but even that is hard to justify at $95/round.
I think Dunedin is a good option. Affordable course, Ross bones. I believe they did or are in the process of doing a restoration? Someone local can probably fill in the details on that. I played it on two different trips last year and thought it was great for the price!
If youâll be in the 'Burg, I think the best thing for you to do is head south over the Skyway and make your way to Waterlefe. You wonât be disappointed. May lose a few balls, but wont be disappointed. ![]()
