This probably helps very little since it’s from 7 years ago, but best I can find on the google machine so far
Hilton Head National is nice option for high handicappers. Not going to lose too many balls out there and its always in great shape.
Another great public option is Golden Bear in Indigo Run. Greens have been top notch this year.
Played golden bear last year and the person that booked us hyped up the greens. We were not disappointed. Got absolutely dumped on during the middle six holes so that’s my main memory.
I’ve played a lot out there this year and they have been the best around IMO for the publics (outside of obviously the Sea Pines courses). Two other good value options are Bear Creek and Dolphin Head in Hilton Head Plantation. Not going to break the bank and enjoyable layouts.
For all the rest of you Columbia area refugees, I had an ad from Pinnacle Golf come across my Instagram that was offering up a Round at Wildewood for $45. Good only Mon-Thurs after 12pm, but I’m guessing they are trying to get more people out there for prospective membership. I believe you just have to call up the Pro Shop and mention the ad.
Made the trip from Atlanta to Aiken today. I really loved the course, will definitely try to make it back. Greens were great, I’ve never enjoyed hitting so many 3 putts.
I was a little shocked how packed it was for a Wednesday, ran into some pockets of glacial play. The lady at the half house, who is awesome, said it has been like that everyday recently.
Must be that Infamous NLU Bump
NLU must be finally tapping into the exclusive 65 and up crowd
They must have had like 15 books. I was in the process of completing the form and the site reloaded that it sold out. Unbelievable.
yowza, i totally forgot to even check but i’m glad i didnt waste my time.

May get in touch with you next week, think we may have a hole in our current intinerary we may need to fill.
What are my best Hilton Head steakhouse options? Need a good place to eat friday night. Will probably hit up wild wings (ugh) after 36 on Saturday because they will have all the games on.
No problem. Just let me know. Hudson’s is pretty good for steaks. There is also a Brazilian steakhouse that is up there for top places to eat on the island.
Sweet. You can take that number down if you want, I’ve got it saved.
Hey all. New to the refuge. Out of stater senior at USC who lives on campus here in Columbia.
Fairly new to the game (started playing in February of this year) and have been playing quite a bit (every day this summer after work) and down to a 24.5 hci. Generally walk Charwood (I know I know) and when buddies join in we ride at Oak Hills.
Right now I’m basically trying to fix my swing plane (steep as fuuuuck) and start striking the ball better then worry about scorecards.
Excited to check out this thread and the rest of the Refuge!
New to the site, Located in the upstate area! Currently playing at a 6.5 hci and looking forward to reading the board.
Following up on this because I have been bothered now for far too long, but apparently they had even more passes this year than last. Sold out last year in 3 hours. This year? 28 damn minutes.
Damn. Thats impressive
Welcome. Enjoy reading around on the Refuge. Good note, don’t take yourself too seriously. You’ll see some of that in some threads!
