I can’t make it since it’s a school day or else I’d be down.

Just one ticket. The game is Monday, 4/17, 6:40 pm start. I will be cheering the local team to victory over the braves. Bleh.

Padres sit on the first base side, best food is on this level/side of the park, gives you a straight shot at the scoreboard and Western Metal Supply building.

200’s/Terrance level is great viewing too in my opinion but I like the food a lot better on the first level. Get the tri-tip from Seaside Market

This is great info! I really think we could crowdsource a travel guide through the various roll call threads. :joy:

Happy to announce I’ve moved back to the San Diego area after a few year hiatus. Looking to migrate to the local roost and/or slack if there’s room for me. Thanks!

Welcome back! We are now on slack. Feel free to join us

Just returned from a brief golf vacation San Diego.

Highlights:
Oak Quarry is in great shape and the scenery is incredible. Pace of play was BAD. We were coming close to six hours for 18 holes.

Getting fit for new irons and wedges at Titleist is something everyone should do. Very cool. They are just starting renovations/expansions for the facility. Would love to come back in a couple of years.

Goat Hill lived up to expectations.

The Crossings at Carlsbad was decent. A couple of good holes. Pace of play sucked. 5.5 hours on a Tuesday afternoon is not ideal. Californians need to hurry the fuck up.

Petco Park is a great stadium to watch a game. Padres offense is stinky right now though so no win.

What’s up everyone! Traveling to SD for the first, from NC, in July for work trip. I will be there 6 days and staying in the Gaslamp area. Any can’t miss food(Lover of most foods) or entertainment recc’s for my first trip in that area? Had hoped to go to baseball game but all their games are away the week I am there. Heard the Zoo was awesome also. TIA

Definitely recommend taking the ferry over to coronado one day and spending a lot of time there. You can walk down the main street (Orange Ave) lots of good food (I recommend brigantine or coronado brewing company) and cool shops. Coronado beach is also one of the nicest beaches in the country!

If coming by ferry, would highly recommend stopping at Tartine, near the corner of Orange and 1st St. Fantastic for coffee and pastries in the morning and even better for dinner and desserts in the evening. The pastry chef there is legit!

All of my takes are based on living there nearly 10 years ago, so the current locals can confirm/strike through.

Stout - Good Guinness in the Gaslamp
Wet Stone - Wonderful little wine bar and eclectic small plates, located a short walk up to Bankers Hill
Ballast Point Brewing Little Italy - Try as many of their beers as possible.
Hodads - big, fuck off burgers.
Tivoli - Dive bar just by Petco, will more than likely have the Padres games on if you want to watch.

Oh, i didn’t really add food recs. Will add here. I don’t go to the gaslamp a ton, I think it’s mostly overrated. Little italy and north park are the places to be these days.

Downtown:

Underbelly Ramen (Little Italy) good for lunch!
Puesto (near seaport Village)

5-10 min away, worth visiting:

Point Loma Seafood (Point Loma) I recommend the fresh seafood sandos

Madison Park (north park-ish) great food and cocktails in a cool space. also great brunch. Definitely make a reservation!

Liberty Station. Quieter than downtown, many different restaraunts to choose from, big pretty park, great place for a meal and a beer and then a scenic walk to burn it off. Could spend a couple of hours here for sure. I recommend Stone Brewing (make a reservation!)

Yeah my plan was to go to a Padres game (Braves Fan here) but unfortunately, they are all way the week I am there.

Tough break. I’m biased as a Padres fan, but Petco is a wonderful ballpark. Great views from pretty much everywhere, good food and bev options, cool view of downtown & airplanes approaching if you sit behind home plate, and usually great weather.

Second the Puesto recommendation. Despite being at Seaport Village, it has some great, interesting tacos.

In Point Loma, I would favor Mitch’s which is next to Point Loma Seafood. Really good octopus tacos and a great location to sit outside. If you want a burger in that area, Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern is good.

Love Liberty Station. Great place to hang out and some good coffee places. Tender Greens used to be even better but it’s still a good place for salads and stuff. Slaters 50/50 is famous for burgers that are 50% ground bacon, and when I was last there, they had a very good array of beers on tap.

Little Italy is the epicenter of good eats and they have a fun Farmers market on Sat and I think Wednesday as well.

The farmers market is awesome if you can get out to it. I try to go once a month

The farmers market in Hillcrest is good as well. Hoping to get back out to San Dog for the 4th of July holiday again this year. Can’t wait.
