Visiting East Greenwich next weekend with family. What are conditions like this time of year in New England? Coming from Minnesota so wondering if it’s worth trying to squeeze a round in since our season is wrapping up.
Weather looks to be in the high 50s/low 60s. Most greens are in great shape. If you can play, swing it
I’ll be in Rhode Island at the beginning of May to move my daughter out of her dorm at URI. Most likely sometime between May 5-10. Hoping to play at least once while there. Seeking invites to join a group and/or recommendations on where to play as a single.
URI Grad here. If you’re looking to play close to Kingston then I’d suggest Meadowbrook, Fenner Hill, and Richmond CC. In that order.
30-60 min drives
-Newport National (overpriced IMO but fun course)
-Triggs (if youre playing on a weekday)
-Met Links (former Metacomet, now an executive 9 holer)
-Shennecossett in Ct.
[Googles what happened to Metacomet]

Played Meadowbrook and Exeter on this trip last spring. Played Meadowbrook a couple years ago when we were doing campus visits as well. Very nice public golf course. Certainly wouldn’t complain to see it again. Triggs is definitely on the list for this trip if I’m up there during the week. It all depends on her exam schedule, as always.
Appreciate the input.
@TheMassHacker putting a call out to help our guy @Sixcat make some connections with your merry band of Northerners
Fr, it was a true gem of a course.
I am going to Newport for a wedding at the end of this month and looking to get a round in while I am there. I’ve never been to the area. Any suggestions as to where I should play? Newport National? It will be just 2 of us playing.
Heyo - might be heading to providence this weekend - any thoughts on good public courses near by? Triggs doesn’t have any times on Saturday, I like Met links, but looking to try somewhere new. Rolling Greens?
Those are really the “closest” options to PVD.
Pinecrest is in the southern part of the state and it’s only 9 holes but it’s super fun, strongly recommend. Pretty short but always in solid condition. Exeter is around there too and another solid option. Melody hills is closer to PVD which is just your typical public track and candidly not my favorite.
Fenner Hill and North Kingstown are both awesome and worth the drive. Heard good things about Meadow Brook but never been. And Montaup is a semi private that’s got some good holes and is usually in great shape.
I loved Beaver Run, in addition to all those mentioned above.
