Roll Call: Pittsburgh and Western PA

O’Hara here. Play PittNational, Totteridge, Birdsfoot and Toms Run mostly these days. Looking to join a club to decrease my driving.

Hi everyone, is anything known to be open this weekend? Thinking about a day trip from Buffalo on Sunday. Birdsfoot looking like the following weekend, no answer at Totteridge, Madison Club is a maybe.

really funny you just posted this, I’ve been looking for the same thing.

I’m in Warren, PA, and there’s still a ton of snow here. Was in Pittsburgh last weekend and there was also a ton of snow there.

Everything from just north of Pittsburgh to Grove City-ish was snow free as of last weekend, but it has snowed here since.
If anyone finds somewhere open for Sunday I will definitely meet up if someone needs a partner.

I make it down to Warren as well, but I get mixed up between Warren PA and Warren OH, played courses in both though. Pittsburgh National tee times link is up but no answer, maybe its up all the time.

Cable Hollow Golf Course here in Warren is open even if there’s an inch of snow usually. Doesn’t matter if it’s 30 degrees…if there’s grass showing, they’re open. Good to keep in mind for a quick <2 hour drive from Buffalo on a decent day without much snow. Unfortunately we’ve got a few inches on the ground right now.

Tried Olde Stonewall, they said they’ve got snow on the course and won’t be open for a few weeks still.

Calling around in Butler, PA currently to see if they have snow…will let you know if I find something.

cool thanks! I’ve played Cable Hollow, my dad does an annual week in the area with his buddies.

I figured on Stonewall. Last year Quicksilver was one of the first to open in the Pittsburgh area.

Just a brutal winter all around. Hope we can all find something and not have to wait another week.

Not looking good right now. Snow everywhere from Buffalo to Pittsburgh and no courses will be open that I see.

Only option is Morgantown, WV. Supposed to be 63 degrees Sunday and no snow down there, but that’s a 3.5 hour drive for me and probably just a little too far for an afternoon round.

I can get there in 4 and a half. My buddy and I have done Pittsburgh and back in the same day, whats another hour of driving each way. Besides the insanity of doing so. Might happen. Madison Club did say they may open, so something to monitor.

Anyone else have any leads on courses that will be open Sunday?

@jasona93 I didn’t think I was interested in driving to Morgantown Sunday, but the more I look at the weather the more a 4 hour drive for 60 degree weather sounds ideal

Speidel in Wheeling WV? They have a Jones course and a Palmer course. Everywhere looks like 80% chance rain down to Baltimore though.

Wheeling shows no rain and highs of 56 degrees, but 15-25mph winds with gusts up to 40…sign me up! Haha

Have you called Speidel to see if they’ll be open?

They currently have some snow on the course but are hoping to be open Sunday and asked me to call back tomorrow.

I have a feeling the only way we’re getting golf in this weekend is if we head to Pinehurst.

you may be right, and the following weekend isn’t looking like 60 either, more like 40.

Looks like we’re gonna have to wait a couple more weeks. The itch is real.

Not giving up hope yet. I’ve got two ‘we hope to open Sunday, call us Saturday’ in Madison Club and Spiedel in Wheeling. Next weekend looks colder again, I’ll just go visit a buddy in Baltimore if I have to.

Hickory Heights is open right now.

Sweet! You guys making the trip down tomorrow?

I’m leaving Buffalo right now ha. My last hockey game is tomorrow and I’d rather not miss. Rain holding off until evening. Balls in the air around 2, there are 2 of us if you’d like to join.
