Just wanted to pop in and say that O’odham was sick and now I’ve got the itch to get back and see it a few more times. Conditions were awesome, such a great routing. Had a few Huss Brewing Co. bevs and some POMO Pizzeria to top it off. Hoping to visit again sooner than later!
Hello friends. May book some flights and golf today for early may. Does a 5:15 am tee time sound possible right now?? I’m seeing 5:45 sunrise. I was shocked to see that being offered
It’ll be dark-ish but light enough you can probably get away with it, especially in a couple weeks. That said, it does seem a tad aggressive for a course to be selling that time.
Courses will sell that time and then be annoyed that there isn’t enough opportunity to do maintenance. Race to the bottom.
Well it was for Dobson and I checked at like 3am your local time and they’re booked until 1pm now for 5/10 lol.
Currently I have spot 5/9 afternoon at TS oodham and WKP sag and a morning of 5/10 at WKP sag. Need to obviously drop one for 5/9 but I literally booked flights yesterday so scrambling to find a plan for two rounds of golf.
If anyone wants to play early (pre 8am for sure) on Saturday 5/10 and has an idea of where to go let me know! Would love to meet anyone. I’m happy with the C&C weekend but also hate booking single spots and don’t want to play with barstool bros at WKP. Would way rather roll up to águila, encanto, cave creek, etc with some cool dudes.
Really want to see sterling grove someday but I imagine all the early times go to members. Maybe next time
Hey! Where are you staying? Could help narrow down how far you want to drive/book something.
I’m in the southeast valley in Gilbert.
Will be staying at Talking stick but not really opposed to driving a fair radius around the area.
I have kind of talked myself out of southern dunes already this trip though. When we travel my goal is to play as efficiently and early as I can so my wife keeps letting me play on every trip lol. 1hr plus in the car does not help my system haha.
Cool! And what’s your price range? Obviously no one wants to pay troon north prices but anything other than munis will be $120+
I know AZ pricing. Am I going to pay $350 for gray hawk? Not a chance. 200+ for WKP is fair to me I guess. When in Rome right? I usually play the munis when I go back so open to anything really. I like nice courses, I like the old faithfuls etc
But what is priceless to me is playing with decent people.
So good foursome at palo verde> me and losers at silver leaf
Well if you are looking for someone to play with I’d be down possibly if time works…
For sure! I mean cool internet friends > randos
I’m open to working on a Saturday morning round however it would probably have to be no later than 7. Currently I snagged a single spot at WKP sag but can obviously adjust plans
Looked at the forecast for this upcoming weekend and saw Sunday is a high of 76°, so I had to take advantage of one of the last nice days of the year. With that said, I booked foursomes at both GCU and Encanto as they were the two city courses with open tee times. If anyone wants to join let me know which time and course is your preference and I’ll cancel whichever one we don’t end up needing.
Sunday, May 4th
GCU at 11:22 am
or
Encanto at 1:36 pm
All three spots are currently available.
I’m up for either course. Slight preference to GCU as it’s a little earlier in the day.
Got you down. Understandable regarding time.
Two spots left and course still tbd
Anyone played Aspen Valley in Flag? Playing up there in a few weeks with a work contact.
Have you ever played Continental, the public course up there? It is basically the same but private so maybe in slightly better shape.
If I remember right, the courses were built around the same time but at some point AV split off a became a private club. I think someone told me the courses were built before the real estate? If so, they sure went ahead and built the real estate right up close to the courses. Continental has some holes on the front nine that are out in an open meadow and pretty wide. The back nine there and all of AV are pretty tight in the trees and while I like the tree-lined feel for a Northern Arizona course most of those holes in the trees also have homes and OB very close.
I guess the positive thing I would say us that AV is probably the one private course in the Flagstaff area that is really reasonably walkable. I haven’t played Forest Highlands but my understanding is both of those courses and the Pine Canyon and Flagstaff Ranch are real estate courses and cart ball.
What’s the window on public times/non resident at phoenix city courses? May pivot my Saturday early time at WKP sag for an afternoon at encanto or something lol. Bad trade but I’m trying to accommodate my family that isn’t as willing to accommodate my plans lol.
7 days is the public booking window
How tough is águila, cavecreek, encanto to secure a spot on a Saturday by the time it’s the 7 day window? Typically?
