Thank you @waffles @generaltso @danielfactor @matthew823 (and anyone else I may have missed) for the great advice regarding which courses to play. It’s much appreciated!
Which did you play? Ranking?
Played Quintero, Talking Stick O’odham, Ak Chin Southern Dunes, and We-Ko-Pa Saguaro.
I loved Quintero for the greens and for the variety of second shots. I don’t get all of the hate that it receives other than knowing it has a “Jones” name attached to the architect. Par threes were beautiful even if they were all the same and I have no idea how to play them.
We-Ko-Pa deserves every bit of its ranking and the accolades. Would be an awesome course to play a match on.
Talking Stick was really fun because I had studied it so much beforehand. The amount of dirt they had to move is ridiculous. But without that knowledge, $170 would have been a lot to drop on a course with zero land movement. But with that information I was able to really pay attention to it and appreciated the course so much more.
Southern Dunes was incredible. It felt like they dropped a course from NC/SC into the desert. It was definitely the most pleasant surprise of the trip.
Rankings:
Quintero
We-Ko-Pa (these top two could be easily swapped)
Southern Dunes
Talking Stick
Playing Eagle Mountain this Sunday 4/28 at 2:30. Have 2 spots open if anyone wants to join and potentially get a match in. Rate is 120.
Have 3 spots available for GCU at 10:50 on Sunday 5/5 if anyone would like to play.
I’ll take one if still available!
All yours
If anyone is looking to get into a scramble I already have a team but there are some spots open if anyone wants to get some teams together. Great tourney for a great cause. My buddy Dave runs the event so just call or email him. Always a good time.
I’ll second that. Have played in this tournament before and glad to call Dave a friend. They put on a great event. I’m bummed I likely won’t be able to make it this year.
Dave’s the best
Got a foursome at Papago next Sunday at 7:36am. Let me know if anyone wants to join.
Count me in! Down for that match as well
Hate to do this but remembered my cousin is visiting from Denmark. Reservation is yours if you want it
No problem. If it’s just me, I’ll pass and you can let it go.
Not really a roll cal topic but I’m flying phoenix and taking a rental car and driving to Prescott. Does anybody have ideas on what to get/ cheap rentals/ who’s the best/ where to get out the quickest kinda thing. Taking the wife and 2 kids(7/8) for graduation. And it hurts to say probably no golf. I know I know… you just can’t do that!!! But I only got a few days with family.
Thanks guys
I wouldn’t overthink this. Get a rental car from the airport and be on your way. Costco or booking.com / something similar for best rate.
2nd the Costco rental car. It’s simple and easy.
The rental car center at Sky Harbor is in a different area than the airport but they finally have the sky train running to it so make sure you take that and should be simple.
Hey y’all, new to the nest and wanted to introduce myself. I’m down in Chandler, and play every weekend pretty much wherever I can get a tee time. Nice to meet y’all!
Welcome! Do you have the city of Phoenix golf card? The munis are where most of us tend to hang out, at least in the winter while rates are high. We’ll get out to other courses a bit more in the summer as rates chill out a bit.
I do indeed!
