Rifts is an amazing taproom just south of old town that normally has an excellent food truck rotation.

I’m going to be staying at the Wigwam Resort in March for a work conf. I posted this earlier in the Broken Tee Discord but I thought I would try here as well… I’ll have a foursome and I have never played “Desert Golf” before… It looks like Wigwam has couple courses but from Strapped looks like a typical resort layout. Wishlist 1) Desert Golf 2) Reasonably close to Wigwam ( I don’t think I’m getting a rental so it will be Uber) 3) I know its the high season but as affordable as possible so Accounting Dept doesnt light me up! Thank you all!!

Your best bet for desert golf in that part of the valley is Verrado Founders, Verrado Victory, and Estrella.
In March you are probably looking at >$100 for a tee time but I will say the two Verrado courses are pretty stellar. Haven’t played out there in a couple of years but absolutely adore them when I moved out there.

Locals - am I at risk for a frost delay Friday morning at Papago at 745? Low of 50 per apps so think I’m in the clear, but had delays last 2 times out to the area in February.
You should be fine. Frost delays only seem to occur if it gets down to 30s overnight.

We have Mtn Shadows that afternoon, think I’ve had 3 there when first out, but truly is in the shadows and dipped cooler.

The crazy part is most of those higher-end courses are staying at $150+ in the middle of summer. The first summer I lived here (2015) I had a few $40 July/August tee times at Troon North, Talking Stick, etc.

Are they even doing anything to update them? I moved away in 2019 and all those properties were in desperate need in some modernization.
No idea, never been back. Assuming a few of those courses just bought those golf cart scooters or motorcycles to “modernize”.
