Roll call: Phoenix/Scottsdale

Doing a AZ golf trip in April. We are playing both We-Ko-Pa courses twice on Friday/Saturday. Trying to figure out Thursdays round. We are between SunRidge Canyon and Dinosaur Mountain Gold Canyon. If you had to pick between the two, which would you recommend?

You’re playing 36/day at WKP or one of the courses each days?

I can’t give you an accurate opinion, sadly haven’t played Dinosaur Mountain

36 a day at WKP. Flipping the courses each day so we get to play them both in morning and afternoon.

A buddy and I just had the other 2 drop out for Cave Creek at 9:28 tomorrow morning if anyone wants to join.

Played Verrado victory and founders today. Victory greens are immaculate. Founders were good, but not as smooth. Heartily recommend if you find yourself just this side of Cali.

SunRidge over Dino Mountain. Assuming you are going to be closer to SunRidge as well.

Hey there Arizona folks. I’m coming in December 28th for the MN gopher bowl game then playing the legacy on the 29th. Any takes on the legacy I should know about? Also I booked at 732 and 1pm as a single if anyone wants to join.

Good to know. Thanks for sharing. Thought I’d hear the opposite from 10 minutes of googling.

Agree with @sub150.

To be fair, it’s been a long, long time since I played Dino Mtn; then again, there’s a reason for that. It’s got views, because the course is all up and down the mountain, but there’s nit much substance to the course, and there are a handful of pretty funky holes.

I like SunRidge. There are homes around it but the holes tend to be set down in low areas so the houses aren’t in the line of fire. If you aren’t used to desert golf, it can be tough. It’s worth playing shorter tees than what you may be used to. The course essentially plays down the valley and then back up so the majority of the back nine is coming back uphill and it’s a tough finish. Enjoyable design though.

Legacy is fine. Not a desert course, for the most part. Water only in play one maybe 1-2 holes. Most of the holes are in among resort and condo buildings and a couple of the holes are a bit narrow. That said, it’s a good design, with solid strategy to the holes and reasonably wide fairways. Gary Panks design. Never played a course of his that I absolutely love, but never played one that stinks either.

Good to know. That’s what I was thinking it looked like. It just seemed like the best option since I can stay on site and not rent a car which saves a ton of money. Although it’s pretty clear they are going to try and sell me a timeshare haha.

Excited to get out of this MN winter.

Anyone off work and available next week for some golf?
I have a wolf/gambling itch.

I’m off the following week and should be good for the 29th or 30th if that works.

Currently have tee times to play Papago Wed 12/22 am & Cave Creek Friday 12/24 am, but will certainly adjust if we can get a game going

I am also off the week after Christmas. Can probably manage to get out one of those days.

Haven’t touched my clubs since first weekend of October, though, so the game will be sketchy and the gambling will be v. low stakes if I partake at all.

I am a part member at Legacy but had to jump in when I saw it come up in conversation. Won’t be here sadly that day as I will be out of town for the ASU bowl game. Fun course, not long at all, but a decent challenge for most folks. Not really desert golf as others have said but would love your take on it after you play. Have fun!

I have a tee time for 4 at Papago on 12/23 at 11:42 if anyone wants it. I will let it go at the end of the day. Ended up getting on another course.

I have an extra spot at Cave Creek next Wednesday 12/29 at 8:08am if there are any takers.

We got a Roost!!!

Played Longbow for the first time and it definitely exceeded expectations. I played like shit but still thoroughly enjoyed it. Each hole required some thought off the tee (most of which I failed at). Greens were firm and really pure right now.

I’m looking forward to getting back out there.
