I’m here pretty infrequently so if it was discussed I have no doubt I just missed it.
TPC Champions Resident Rate Info:
Gave the course a call, and there is an unadvertised AZ Resident rate of $59 for the Champions Course. The guy I spoke with says it is only a 7-day booking window, but more than likely if you book online outside the window and just show up with your AZ ID they’ll knock the rate down.
Also, if you need a 2nd reason to choose the “Standard Rate” when booking online vs the “Prepaid Round”, here it is haha:
Also confirmed there is no scheduled maintenance at the Champions Course until closed for overseeding.
What date(s) are we thinking if we want to get a good group of us out there? I am wide open in August on the weekends as it stands outside of Saturday 8/21.
Unfortunately, I’m thinking TPC isn’t going to be super conducive for a bigger group…unless we book outside the 7-day resident rate window and pay more. Just don’t think it’ll be feasible to get even 2 foursomes back to back in the 7-day window…
Unless we do an afternoon of course
Currently there is only a morning weekend batch on Sunday the 29th starting 8:36-9:03.
Just so we have a bigger meetup opportunity, I went ahead and booked the first 3 tee times starting at 8:36. Booked the 1st tee time online for $69 a person, but then it wouldn’t let me book the remaining 2 online so I had to call, and due to stupid dynamic pricing those jumped up to $76 a person.
There may be a chance they go down to the AZ rate, but who knows. TPC is probably a little more stringent than GCU was with the city card discount booking outside the window.
We could also plan that I cancel the tee times 7 days before, and then miraculously someone else calls a minute later to get the AZ rate on the books…
@KMola14 I’m down for the 29th, thanks for getting those times blocked out for us.
Still need to play my wigwam makeup, just got back from Idaho on Sunday. I’ll be looking to do that this weekend
Should we also be looking to book ahead for our final? I also noticed the other nit qualifiers had a charity component. Will we be doing something as well?
We can absolutely do some charity aspect, but quite honestly I couldn’t even extract $10 from everybody for a winner’s purse for previous iterations of this…
IMO, the charity aspect is best done in the lead up to a bigger event, not a summer-long series
However, please take the reins if you want to get something going
Haha well if that’s the case would probably be pretty difficult. I had thought it may have been a requirement for a nit qualifier but like you said might be a different set of rules since this is a summer long event.
Hey guis. Non golf question - I’m in town for work and looking for a bar that would be open at 8:30 am this Sunday to watch some Premier League. Any recommendations are welcome!
Best guess is George & Dragon English Pub would have something. They had some morning watch parties during the World Cup.
George and Dragon.
Just north of Downtown Phoenix on Central, fantastic spot to watch some Premier League.
Thanks guis!
Did we set a date for the final? I remember some back and forth between the weekend of September 11-12 and 18-19?
There was also some discussion between Souther Dunes and Talking Stick. If we do end up doing talking stick do we need to adjust for it being a par 70 or does our course adjustment take care of that for us?
Open to discussion on both fronts
9/19 @ TS:
9/11 @ SD:
Think we oughta jump on it soon if we want to get a block of times together
I vote for Southern Dunes. One of my favorite courses.
Group vote?
- Southern Dunes
- Talking Stick: O’odham

FWIW I don’t care about the course so much as I do the weekend, if we’re doing a group outing. The weekend of the 11/12 is much more likely to be available for me than the 18/19.
25/26 also open as of now but then we’re very likely running into overseed issues.
Agreed on sooner than later. Did we agree that everyone needs to be present that day with the fedex cup style ranking?
Is there also a chance we can start about an hour later lol. 6:47 tee time at southern dunes would be an early day with the drive time.
25/26th is also an option for me but I believe there was one weekend where a few members had a wedding to attend.
Nothing finalized, I was just showing those for price comparisons, personally I’d still be fine with the late 0600 hour as I’d rather wake up early and suffer through the drive than be out there at 1200-1300 if its going to be 115
IMO, and please tell me to F off as I would not be going to the NIT anyway, the only mandatory foursome should be the top 4 guys going in to September, so that way there’s a little extra spice to that round. Same with August, but we still need a few scores to trickle in to see where we’re at…call outs:
@wiz did we decide what to do for you w/ Wigwam, I know baby on the way soon…personally totally fine with doubling your 13 for an even quota 26
@CBDeerAntler81 / @Reymar know you guys are trying to get it in soon, send me scores when you have 'em
@RoastDuck post an update when you can please, totally fine if you’ve dropped out, just want to make sure
ETA: still book 12 spots and try to fill as many as we can, but not a mandatory / can’t qualify if you aren’t there situation
