Anyone making it out to Grayhawk this weekend for the NCAAs? I’m debating going Saturday-Monday depending on how I tolerate standing out in that heat. Hope to see some of y’all out there.

Considering going on Monday, and maybe Tuesday.
Would like to see stroke play but figure it’ll be busy-ish this weekend, and shade is hard to come by out there.

Maybe it’s just my memory but it seems like there are fewer trees out there than there used to be.
I always felt like part of why the new 15&16 stuck out was that they lacked the same relatively dense mesquite trees that define so many of the other holes, and it was going to take either massive plantings or a long while for the trees to grow up around the new holes. But maybe the course has gone the other way and started trying to open up the other holes.
Last minute but Papago has some times open tomorrow morning. I’m going to grab one of them. Anyone care to join?
Stroke play goes through Monday. I thought tomorrow was the last stroke play day but I was wrong. Let me know if you make it out. I won’t be there Tuesday but will be out there Monday, for sure.

I’m in town from Dallas for a long weekend…watching NCAAs, and visiting my brother.
Playing Talking Stick on Monday and Dinosaur Mountain on Tuesday. Any tips for either?
Which course are you playing at Talking Stick? 36 hole property and the two courses are pretty different styles. I’ve never played Dinosaur Mountain but heard good things.
wish I could make this one but working nights 6/4 and 6/5 so will be pretty useless 6/6 AM. GL all, looking forward to playing Longbow this month, new course for me.

We’re playing the O’odham course
That’s the better of the two imo so glad you are doing that one. A pretty traditional Coore & Crenshaw design. Lots of room off the tee but not all fairways hit are created equal (s/o width and angles). Greens are subtly tricky. Very walkable if that’s your thing as well as it’s a very flat piece of property.
@pushdraw did the quota round today at GCU - played with Reymar and kickinastro, fun round.
My handicap is a 11.8, so from the white/black tees, my course handicap is a 12, and my quota was 24. I got 22, for a net of -2.
Looking forward to Longbow.

Hey, guys I just moved down here for a few months to work on the bunkers at Pinnacle Peak. Let me know if you want to have a game or have some good course recommendations.
I am also trying to figure out some other cool stuff to do this summer. Excited to be down here and it’s going to be a good summer.

Yep, had a great time. Haven’t played GCU in 2-3 years, so it was like a new course to me. The common sentiment was these appeared to be tournament pins. Everything seemed to be tucked into corners and 3-4 paces onto the green. I did something today I have never done, and hope to never do again. I scored a 5 on the first 10 holes. Finally turned it around on the back and made a few pars. I was an 8 hdcp from the B/W tees and ended up with 21 points so I am -7. Looking forward to Longbow. On to Mesa!
