Roll Call: Orlando, FL Golfers

Will be in the area next week for vacation, 2 questions for the locals.

  1. How far in advance can WP9 tee times be booked?
  2. Is the lighted par 3 “Legends Walk” at Orange Lake worth checking out? Never played night golf and wanted to give it a go.
  1. 3 days out on golf now or better yet calling the clubhouse
  2. not sure

p.s. welcome

It’s fun, worth it if you have the time.

Hello friends, cross posting from the Disney thread for my upcoming trip the week of the 25th. Any suggestions appreciated!

Palm is my favorite of the bunch.

Four Seasons Tranquilo is the best course on Disney Property if you can get on. If anyone in the group belongs to a club and could have their pro call over they would probably set you up. No idea what rate they would give you though.

Have 2 spots at Kings Ridge (Kings Course) - for Sunday 8:44a.

I played it for the first time this year after being at the resort for several years now. I very much enjoyed it. Felt like an idiot for ignoring it for so long. I’ll be playing multiple times every year I’m there, a lot of fun.

I was down there a month ago and played both LBV and Palm. I enjoyed LBV much more (scored much better) but it also seemed to be in much better shape. The Palm course just seemed like it had a ton of wear and tear (understandable with how much play those courses get) but LBV seemed to be taken care of a little bit better. Also I thought it was a nicer setting, placing through the different vacation condos as opposed to the Palm where the front 9 was right along the highway.

I also played The Four Seasons Tranquillo course, it is fantastic. I was able to get on through a family member who is a member there. I’m not sure how much they charged guests but I’d have to assume it is above the price range you mentioned.

Played Metro West too, it was only $65 with cart. Good bones of a track but needs a lot of work. Would not pay anymore than what I did to play there again and only if there weren’t any other options.

Thanks for this! Glad you mentioned the setting, future-FIL would much prefer the meandering through disney condos/resorts.

Tranquilo looks amazing but well out of range. Was considering returning to Hawk’s Landing which I enjoyed, but didn’t recall their pricing being where it is (though I know it’s peak season)

Coming to Orlando in about a month for a conference and booked a tee time at Grand Cypress Links thanks to the recommendations of many in this thread. Is this a walkable course given that it’s a replica of the Old Course?

I might have time for a second round, but that’s TBD. I’m staying at LBV Disney Springs and won’t have a car so I’ll be ubering to any course and would prefer to stick close to my hotel (sub 20 min). Can anyone comment on the following courses for current conditions and pace of play?

Disney’s LBV
Other Grand Cypress course
Hawk’s Landing
Falcon’s Fire
Shingle Creek
Celebration
Any place I missed?

Only 1 and 18 are replica holes. There’s a significant distance from the clubhouse out to the course, and there’s some longer stretches between holes. Take the cart.

Might be stay & play specific for Grand Cypress guests

Super-duper FL resort style, but should be in nice shape.

Nah man, nah. If they were in good shape maybe, but they’re not.

If you’ve got an in on the Four Seasons course that’d be #1. Course at Waldorf Astoria would also fit into the category with Hawk’s Landing and Shingle Creek, but I don’t know about current conditions.

Late to this but totally agree. In laws have a timeshare at OL so we end up down there in March. Best part is going once the lights are on there’s almost never anyone out there. My brother in law and I take a half set and six pack and have a great time.

I didn’t play Celebration this year but did last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Wasn’t in great shape, but was in good shape.

Another teacher and myself are taking a group of students to the Orlando area January 6-10th next year. We will have a group of 8-12 people total. Are there any connections to help with possible tee times? What are some must see courses or any courses to really avoid? We are considering trying to do a day to drive and see Cabot Citrus, Streamsong, or The Park if we could secure some times without having to break the bank.

Any other general insights or help is greatly appreciated. I took a group to Southern Pines/Pinehurst a few years ago and it was amazing.

Hello all. I’m on a plane to Orlando currently. Is there a decent place to get some food and see some stuff late afternoon or early evening? Don’t need anything fancy.

I’m staying at a Hilton near/at Seaworld if that helps for location. I won’t have a car so just looking to take a Lyft reasonably far.

I mean, you’re in the heart of the tourist area so International drive is going to have every chain restaurant you can think of at every price point, so it’ll come down to that and what you’re in the mood for. Yard house is a solid option over there. If you don’t mind traveling a hair further, Rocco Taco’s is a local favorite with decent enough food.

As I’m sure you can tell, I did zero research lol. Appreciate it!

Any decent bars to watch the rest of this Magic game with people? Near me hopefully
