Heading to Lincoln at the end of this week for the Huskers volleyball matches on Friday & Saturday. Weather is looking pretty good right now so will probably bring the clubs and play a round on Friday or Saturday morning.
If anyone has any recommendations or wants to join for a round let me know!
Highlands has some fun holes, and Pioneer or Holmes are decent options, but those would be the only ones Iād consider at least if I were in Lincoln playing.
If you come next year, maybe try Quarry Oaks? Theyāre were supposed to open this fall after some extensive work, but storms delayed that to next year. @jtshelley42
Beware that we had a record low rainfall total in September so the rough is going to be baked out at the city courses. Nothing they can really do about it. More yards on your drives and easy to play from, so thatās nice.
Pick Pioneers if itās windy, Highlands if itās blowing < 10 mph range.
Unfortunately nothing Iād really recommend driving east for, that was Quarry Oaks, about halfway between Omaha and Lincoln. Omaha has a few very nice courses, but not sure it would make sense for you to drive over an hour each way to play.
Was able to secure a Saturday afternoon tee time through one of my girlfriendās clients at Hillcrest Country Club. They made it for four so if anyone is interested in joining let me know!
@jefranks30 Has made some good recās in the past! If you like Mediterranean, Iāve gone to a newish place in the Old Market called Clio 2-3 times, itās been great every time, and the Wicked Rabbit is a good place for drinks
Broken record, but Block 16 is a must. Dolomiti for dinner / Coneflower for dessert would be a solid night out. Check out Kros Strain tasting room while youāre over there.
Memoir is a new spot that is really good.
If Steelhouse has a show with a band you like, itās one of the best venues Iāve ever been to.
Creighton basketball if youāre into that kind of thing.
Jocelyn Art Museum is the better museum but the Durham Museum, in the former Union Station, puts up a giant Christmas tree and has better holiday vibes if youāre coming in December.
If youāre budget conscious, there are so few 4-star hotels participating in Hotwire downtown that itās very easy to figure out which one youāre getting, especially with a reverse image search of the one pic they show you. For example the Magnolia Hotel or Hotel Deco, both of which allow dogs. The Peregrine is quite nice and can also be found at a decent rate.
Mentioned above, but The Wicked Rabbit is great for drinks if you dig the speakeasy vibe. The hotel itās connected to, The Deco, was great as well. Right across from the Orpheum theater if thereās a show in town and walkable to anything Old Market as well as the riverfront. We did our 10th anniversary there this summer. Walked down to Brunch Box for breakfast the next morning and itās quirky but very good.
