Roll Call: Omaha/Lincoln

I do not have a connection to offer, but fun fact the Lost Rail guest fee is $250.
Still worth it once a summer.

Any tips, things to know, must haves for a trip to Arbor Links in Nebraska City? Going on a trip there next weekend. The course and cabin look sweet.

Awesome dude! Just go and enjoy. Place is special. Golf course is top notch, amenities are top notch.

Awarii Dunes fallen on tuff times.
Pic from yesterday from a friend doing some work out there.

Looks like a couple years ago. That sucks. Had such potential, never in good conditioning.

I’ve got a buddies trip coming up mid September and we’re scheduled to play awarii dunes on the way to wild horse. Is there a better option between Lincoln and Gothenburg, given the state of awarii dunes?

I am not a local, but just play more Wild Horse,

I have made two trips and it is really great.

We’re already playing wild horse 3x, haha

  1. Curious on your travel plans that Lincoln (airport?), not Omaha is your starting point?

  2. Could play Highlands in Lincoln. A nice “links inspired” muni. If you’d had the time and were a course snob, Quarry Oaks about 30 min towards Omaha should be open then after its recent re design.

Most of us are coming in on a direct flight from Chicago to LNK. So the first round of the trip was gonna be on the way from the Lincoln airport headed west. Highlands looks like a decent option, thanks for the suggestion.

Highlands is my home course. It has been in great shape this year, even with the extreme heat we’ve gotten. I think you made the right pick as there’s very little else on I-80 between here and WH.

Highlands slaps, really fun public track.

You would not regret playing WH a fourth time either

That’s a good start! Glad you are giving it some reps. When I was there in June, I got to play it with the wind blowing opposite directions. That was sweet.

@PinkPantser what’s your full itinerary? Not the fastest moving thread here, we’d be interested.

It’s a short trip 3 day 2 night low budget type trip, so we’re just doing wild horse.

Would’ve thought the wind would snap a flagstick before it would do that. Armchair superintendent in me says the must be having to put a ton of water on those greens.

From OCC:

This is free advertising for whoever they get their flagsticks through

Damn that’s awful. As a western Kansan it’s been on my list but I heard reports a couple months ago it was bad. But that’s BAD BAD

How good is that “halfway” house? Pretty sure you hit it 5 separate times.
