I havent played the knolls in 20 years. Kinda forgot it existed tbh
The Knollsā¦ where the rough is deep and so is the fairway!
Has anyone played Woodland Hills in Eagle before? Thoughts on it?
I played it earlier this year and have played it several times before. Layout is fun - pretty good variety among the holes. Hole 9 is a really fun short 4 that plays back to the clubhouse.
Conditioning, in my experience, has always been suspect. The greens this year were in terrible shape at a time when most other courses were in great shape. I usually can look past poor conditioning, but for the experience youāre expecting to get at Woodland Hills, it fell short.
If youāve never played it, itās definitely worth playing once.
Iāll echo @puhing10, iāve always liked playing it. Havent been down there in a few years so i cant speak to conditioning. But its a really fun course.
Played last September and conditioning was a disaster. Four or five greens were 40% dirt. The places where there was grass were super fuzzy. Nearly every green had 5 to 25% dirt. Tons of crabgrass and clover in the rough. A few big dead areas in the fairways.
This was after a summer with no crazy heat waves or droughts. Really sad. In the late 90ās and early 2000ās it was among the best conditioned public courses in the state and the only with tight, bent-grass fairways.
I probably played it 15 times between '98 - '08 (shoutout to the old $25 weekday riding rate you could find in the paper), then again last year and I wonāt go back. Especially not for the Omaha crowd driving past Quarry and Iron Horse to get there.
In the middle of a bike ride in Lincoln when an insane storm front rolled in and the closest shelter was Wilderness Ridge. Theyāre going private next year and theyāre adding a huge pool area and utilizing the current pro shop downstairs as the locker rooms and general pool area. Looks like, from the conceptual renderings, theyāre completely redoing their Nebraska golf academy to incorporate the clubhouse. Their facilities are amazing here, just donāt know if I can get used to playing this course as my home course.
I must say, Indian Creekās greens last night, on a random Wednesday at 7:30 PM, were better than any tournament greens Iāve played in my amateur career. I donāt know how Nedrow does it.
Thatās awesome. Iāve kind of felt different lately. It seems since the Pinnacle Bank Championship started they are often in āprep modeā well into June. Namely heavy sand at times when youād expect the greens to be prime. Prior to PBC I thought there greens were the best public in town from 2 weeks post aeration until the fall aeration.
Anyone have a contact at Yankee Hill CC in Lincoln? Iāve been trying to play every course in town (my hometown), and Yankee Hill is the last one on the list.
Is Yankee Hill still open? I know there was some plans to develop part of the property but I donāt know when they plan to start that.
Iām actually not sure if they are open or not. I heard that they were developing part of the property into apartments but were going to keep part of the course - maybe a par 68 or something similar. Theyāve had a ton of members switching over to Wilderness Ridge in the past year. I guess I assumed that the course was still partially open in the meantime, but I donāt know that for sure.
This is phenomenal.
Looking for a Friday game, just me so far.
Tee off in the 9:00 - 12:00 range, could play about anywhere.
I roll a push cart but donāt care how you get around. Let me know and hopefully there will be a spot available somewhere.
3 hcp, will happily play with anyone who knows how to get around.
You picked the right weekend. @anon24718094 any spots left at quarry?
Yes! 3 spots! Letās fill them up!
What are our times again? You interested @TDougg? Weāre doing the refuge meetup this weekend.
10:17 through 11:05 am.
By weekend do you mean Friday? Then yes.
I canāt get out Sat/Sun unfortunately.
