Sounds good. Just shoot me a DM and we will get things worked out.
Itâs #16 and a par 5. Itâs awful. They put the green uphill off the left of the fairway. Trees all over it. Itâs stupid. Shoutout âworst golf holesâ.
Thanks for the correction.
Still should be a par 7
Easy now. Thatâs a fun hole. The green used to be down the hill Back to the right I believe, but they needed to add a par 5. You can see the random bunkers on your aerial.
I would prefer that pin location and keeping it a par 4. Inventing a par 5 by putting a green in Shangri-La is dumb IMO.
The wind way like way straight into you right? In a normal (not crazy) wind with a good drive you can think about blasting it through the trees up to the green or laying it up through the opening. Not an amazing hole but I donât think it generally plays as gnarly as it did today. With a little tree management I think it could be a fun one.
I made par. Driver, 8iron, miracle 8iron pitch. Gave myself a birdie look. I just donât like the straight fairway and mega precise layup to get a decent look with the trees all over it. I have a low ball flight so reaching in 2 is out of play for me considering the trees. It stinks.
HiâŚnew to the refuge.
OKC golfer checking in.
I play mainly at Kickingbird and James E. Stewart.
My favorite NLU personality is Randall.
Hell yeah.
Norman here. I have not played either of those courses, interested now in both.
The thread is alive, it seems, lets go!
Can confirm, Kickingbird is a good time.
Dornick confirmed they have room to fill out a foursome at 10am. @Smith16 makes 3, if anyone else wants to show up just get yourself down there to round out the group!
So, Dornick Hills didnât just live up to the hype. It blew the hype train off the tracks. Anyone who comes within 100 miles of this course should absolutely call the pro shop and ask for a tee time ASAP. And then again once Tom Doak gets done with it in about a year (work to begin soon, we were told).
SNL Stefon voice This club has everything: A driving range that is part cemetery, two heckler decks overlooking the 9th and 18th greens, cart girls that come around at least 3x a round and take credit cards, a spiral staircase to the roof of the clubhouse, another cemetery, bridges dedicated to the oil and gas lobbying groups, college kids who look like clones of MTVâs Dan Cortese (All with matching Mavriks), and the worldâs comfiest golf cart seats.
@Smith16, @OliveLoaf and I played a stableford game (handicap & index adjusted - aiming to cover our quotas, or at least get as close as possible to them). @Smith16 was absolutely smoking the ball and worked a rather miraculous 81 gross, which was excellent considering we were lost in the Maxwell sauce out there. Ned, meanwhile, playfully inverted his score from yesterday and I joined him deep in the 90âs. Somehow my handful of point scoring holes saved me from buying post-round brews!
Heading into Tulsa tomorrow (Monday)-Wednesday morning, going to try to get out somewhere on Tuesday in Tulsa or the OKC area on Wednesday. Any suggestions for a couple Assistant pros heading west? Good public or maybe a private that is cool with last second pga comps?
Stone Creek at Page Belcher, or Woodbine at Mohawk Park are your best muni options in Tulsa.
However I strongly suggest/implore you take an hour detour south of OKC and hit Dornick Hills!
One of the worst holes in OKC.
Initially surprised by the hate for #16 at Lincoln West. We need a Red Dirt Golf Collective panel discussion that unpacks such issues. (Check then out on Twitter)
Iâm not OK based but Imma need a pack of those tees. Good looking content, gave a few follows.
Working on setting up a small retail section on the website, but in the meantime weâre always giving away swag on Twitter and Instagram, so stay tuned. Thanks for the follow!
After a moment to collect our thoughts, we wanted to take a moment and officially introduce ourselves. We are Red Dirt Golf Collective - a group of very average golfers dedicated to preserving and promoting the game of golf in the state of Oklahoma.
We travel around the state, play golf, take photos and tell the stories that are the reason why we cherish our local munis, goat ranches, cow pastures and private clubs. Thanks to @Mish and @Hoppock for inviting us. We look forward to getting to know and playing a round (or two) with all of you.
