Roll Call: Oklahoma "The Supercell" - The Gusher @ Hillcrest 6/28

Is Nichols Hills a neighborhood that just believes it requires distinction or is it like, its own thing separate from OKC? This confused me during the Stephen’s Cup, too.

It is its own city.

Ohh okay. Smart to avoid association with Rose Creek.

Kidding, of course

Has to be at least honorable mention.

The old course has the road hole. TPC Jenks has the runway hole. Could honestly be higher.

:rotating_light:SUPERCELL MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT:rotating_light:

@TheSupercell

Were tentatively locked in for June 28th at Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville, OK. Shouts to @tjosu for helping make this happen.

Details will be finalized in the coming weeks but it’s going to be a 36 hole day with tee times in the morning around 9a and afternoon tee times around 3p. Breakfast and lunch will be included. Field size will start at 28 available spots and we’ll adjust from there based on demand.

Individual stroke play (net) and the field will be flighted for the final round. As a reminded, winner qualifies for the NIT.

Pricing TBD as well, as we’re waiting on a quote on the F&B side. Should be less than last year, at least I hope. Would to keep it around $275 or with golf, food, and tee gifts included.

Event will be live for registration in UKG soon

Need to know where this course falls in the Dornick/Rose Creek scale before I try to work the calendar

Above both…

Registration is now live in Unknown Golf.

I’m on the fence regarding the name of the event. If anyone has any ideas, shoot em to me. I’ve got a nifty little prize valued at roughly $90 if we pick the name you recommend. My aim is to get a custom logo for event-specific merch for the tee gifts.

Price is still TBD, but using $275 as a placeholder.

Ohhh love a good name game. My suggestions Given the location of hillcrest and its place in the oil and gas history.

  • The Hillcrest Derrick Cup
  • The Supercell Striker’s Invitational (a nod to golf strikers and striking for oil)
  • The Roughneck Open
  • The Maxwell Master’s

It would be sick to have an oil rig or oil derrick logo with some play to the supercell.

I’ve got something in the works. It’s gonna be tasty as long as we stay with the O&G theme.

Heard great things about this track so excited to get up and see it.

As for names my votes would be:

The B-Ville Blowout
The Supercell Gusher
The Supercell Stripper (somewhat negative O&G term but still fun for bumper stickers and event names.)

“The Gusher” sure has a nice ring to it.

  • Bartlesville Boom or Bust
  • The Black Gold’n Tee
  • Fairway Frack Out
  • The Max Wellhead
  • The Royal Tee
  • Well Played (by the Supercell)

Or my favorite:

  • The Crude Swing

You did! I’m excited to see the course and club but especially you, @tjosu, and other Supercell gents I met last year at Sand Creek.

Can not wait!

Hell yes! And thanks for the reminder for me to actually register.

Really pumped that this event came together and looking forward to folks coming up for the first time. We are currently in the final week/s of installing a new irrigation system, so with some good weather the course should be popping by the end of June. Also, I’m excited to report that we had a grounds committee meeting tonight where we drove the course and marked targets for a major tree removal project that will occur while we have all the machinery available from the irrigation work. I’m guessing we ended up tagging around 80 trees that shouldn’t affect playability but will greatly improve grass growing for those areas. We’ve also removed a couple bunkers that were generally out of play and are looking at others for future projects.
