Next weekend - just meeting a Chicago friend halfway-ish, so not married to Fort Wayne necessarily, but somewhere near there. Obviously early in the year for golf, but bonus points for anywhere in decent condition for the time of year
My buddies own a place called Hop Station in Mishawaka, near Notre Dame. One of the best craft beer bars in the country, and the food is really good too. Especially the pizzas. If you’re looking at that general area, that’s where I’d go.
That sounds great and I’ll keep that in mind next time I sneak over to Warren, but I called and it sounds like they won’t be open for at least another couple weeks
My sister used to live in Mishawaka. Waka Dog forever.
What on earth would give you the impression NEO would have no top golfs? I drive by it all the time and no matter the time of day, place is always packed
I’ve not been in a couple years, so I guess I just thought the novelty would’ve worn off by now. At least enough that I would’ve never thought a second location would be warranted. But I also admit I’m not the target market.
Ping me Monday. Next week’s weather is looking optimistic so at least a couple of the courses should be available. As for breweries, pretty much what @Conley76 linked to are my biggest recs.
Top golfs are absolutely printing money, golf sickos aren’t the target market. It is everyone else who is. Almost every single person who finds out I am a golfer and they are not asks me, “do you go to top golf a lot? I love that place”. So many companies have little outings there, so many parents take their kids, it is super popular for group dates, teenagers are there all the time. It doesn’t matter if it is 1 pm and 25 degrees out or 10 pm a still hot, that place is always humming with business. It shocks me everytime I drive by, which is often multiple times per day
Got a targeted ad recently on IG to invest in the growing golf entertainment market. While obviously I’m not going to click a link and deposit money it did spark some interest. I mean top golf is always packed, wonder what roi is on something like that.
Not big enough for its own thread, so I present.
Why are we doing an event on a Tuesday? How would I compare to those attempting to qualify for the U.S. Open?
The Tuesday after U.S. Open Qualifying at Springfield Country Club, we will be having a small event to see what USGA conditions look like. Pin placements will be the same as those used for the Qualifier.
This year, we will have a few more spots than the very limited event last year. Because of the limited number, priority will be given to those that were not able to play last year. The day after the No Findlay-ing Up event, any repeat offenders on the waitlist will be used to fill any open spots.

If anyone is debating this because it’s a Tuesday, as someone that got to play in the small group last year, I can’t recommend it enough.
Springfield is such a fun course under normal conditions and seeing how much different it is when dialed up for the Open qualifier was awesome.
Hit all 9 greens on the back and shot 47 thanks to the @Tron pins last time I played there. Had a 5 putt and degreened myself twice. Hoping for more carnage this time around.
Well this time, you can blame the USGA, haha.
Hah some of Tron’s pins for the Queen City event were brutal! I handled most of them pretty well but I 3 putted from 3 feet on one hole (Blanking on the hole number. Short par 4 with massively elevated green. The hole set on the front ridge and balls below the hole degreened 50 yards to the bottom of the hill hah)
I’ve never been happier to shoot 80 hah. Would’ve felt even better if @jack67 didn’t curbstomp all of us like he was playing a local pitch n putt.
Cannot agree enough. While I would love to play there again, I would rather not get the chance so that someone else can experience it. Such a fun and infuriating course
Bummed and would love to play in this event has I am new to OATW but traveling to Forest Dunes with my brother this week. Sounds like an amazing time.!
Ball rolling back that far makes me think of several holes, short 4 makes me think you are talking about 7 or 8. Was it hills on both sides or was there a large cross bunker?
Wild when you realize a 133 through two rounds only got you into the playoff. Results
We were the first group off, and we got to sit there and watch the carnage unfold on 18.
The 5 putt was on 10. Hit as pure of an approach as I’m capable of just right of the pin. Ball ended up clear on the right side of the green. Ball rolled clear back to me on my first 3 attempts.
Any NEO guys wanna carpool and/or share an Airbnb Monday night let me know. This sounds sick!
