Roll Call: Ohio (OATW adjacent) and localized ice cream debates (Part 1)

Besides what other people have said (I like Darby Creek), I’d recommend Mill Creek in Ostrander or National Golf Links outside of Springfield.

Totally. Like I said, not trying to be a snob. I just find it humorous, and it made me think of that movie quote. As evidenced by subsequent posts, it’s an industry-wide fallacy:

In all honesty, your description just makes me want to play those courses more, because the:

is highly suitable to my style of golf :joy:

Is Eagle Sticks in Zanesville any good anymore? I’m guessing not.

I would play Dennison or Virtues.

If you’ve got private club connections, it is a short drive down to Springfield CC.

If you’re staying in Dublin, I would play Darby Creek or Mill Creek, but that’s just my personal nostalgia talking.

Really, my personal nostalgia would you have you play Marysville GC but hear that place is a POS nowadays

I personally never liked Eagle Sticks and didn’t understand the good reputation it had. The layout stunk. To each their own I guess.

I went to college at Muskimgum. Never played it.

I’ll second this take. Not a good layout, the individual holes aren’t good, and it’s wildly overpriced.

Boss put my 1 on 1 for Thursday at 3PM. Going to need to cancel a tee time.

At this rate…everything is on the table.

Anyone see the article TFE posted about a reversible course coming to Ohio? I’m not part of the club so could not actually see it. Curious where the course is going to be.

You heard right, it’s under some new ownership as of 3-4 years ago but they seem intent on milking every dollar they can out of it before selling to a housing development.

While we’re tossing around course reviews I’ll throw some more fuel on the fire. I like Eaglesticks a lot, I just didn’t recommend it due to the longer than 1 hour drive from Dublin. If you can play it in the afternoon I think it’s worth the price.

I’ve tried Denison and don’t get the hype at all. The front 9 is meh and the non-Ross holes ( I think 14-17) always ruin the place for me. 18 is cool though.

I’ve had too many bad experiences with Mill Creek and how they manage their tee times to ever visit again. The layout is shorter and friendlier to new golfers so always busy and very slow.

Medina CC apparently

Pretty cool that they’re trying this in Cleveland.

Do we have a resident creative type that can help with an event name and logo design in addition to @dfresh285? Looking for help if anyone is interested.

Made my annual call to Big Met to reload my GHIN membership and they were able to reactivate my Metroparks Bonus Round membership on the phone too. $30 for the Bonus Rounds, and that triggers $5 off the handicap. $70 for both, and then the 20% off metroparks greens fees all year. Honestly one of the best deals in the game in the Cleveland area.
