It’s interesting you mention the tee times because I was probably the only person on the course the one time I played.
I bet it’s about the same distance away from me now as it was when I lived in Charleston. My Huntington coworkers played it all the time and I always wished it was closer back then.
Also… @AZacOfAllTrades – there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Virtues. I was just making a joke.
I do wish we had more “higher end” public golf in Ohio though and I think it’s a little odd there really isn’t any outside of a handful of places.
FD is too sweet. The loop is maybe my favorite course I’ve ever played. The conditions and course made for two of the most engaging rounds ever. Highly highly recommend! The dunes course is a great version of a lot of up north championship style courses and serves as a perfect compliment to the loop.
Shutting down Shawnee has probably led to the log jams. Always enjoyed playing that course. And, this might be a hot take, but I actually enjoyed Shawnee more than Elks.
I grew up a couple minutes from Shawnee. I am biased but I adored it. Preferred it over The Elks as well. I still play The Elks 5-10 times a year when I am home. It’s probably my best scoring course simply because I know it so well.
Morning tee times have been rough to get the past couple year.
Poll is closed. Thank you to everyone who voted. For a while there MS, SH and RP were tied which would have been some serious sicko behavior.
So Majestic Springs it is.
Which means…I’ve got two open spots at 1:22 PM this Sunday. Come join me and my buddy Andrew as we strike the shit out of the ball and go through putting demons on the greens.
Also…heard @FrequentFader and @TaylorB24 on Shawnee. Anyone I’ve talked to about it had nothing but great things to say.
BTW…I’ve seen Taylor out there and he’s selling himself short on his scoring ability. That talent TRAVELS, baby.
Virtues is wildly overrated but since the rest of the state sucks at public golf, it gets the praise that should be shown elsewhere. They won the “big fancy new course” award 35 years ago and the old guard think its still the best.
