Roll Call: Ohio (OATW adjacent) and localized ice cream debates (Part 1)

if you can make the drive Springfield CC, it is a must join if you’re down in that neck of the woods. great course, good practice facilities and the pro there is the best!

My brother got fitted at the Golf Room off of Sawmill. Said it was really good!

Springfield CC is definitely the move. They have a non-resident membership option as well. They aren’t offering as good as deals as they were 2 years ago, but still very reasonable. Lots of buddies are members there now and spent a lot of time there growing up.

Not sure, they said the netting went up yesterday and they’re getting turf today so it should be coming down to the wire. I am sure they want it asap because once the weather is good, no one will be very interested. Will be announced on their site and their twitter, but says early March so maybe a week or two at most.

Springfield CC is also still offering their tandem membership if you know someone else looking to join a club…

That’s pretty awesome if you have a person you can split it with.

Maybe I am dumb and or they just did a poor job explaining it in the info I have.

So is the tandem effectively two non resident people splitting the cost of a full membership?

It’s right on the edge for me distance wise (50 min drive) but it is intriguing relative to the cost.

I’m not going to play as much but it is a far more reasonable option relative to how I probably wouldn’t play that much more at a club that was only 15 minutes away.

Looks like you have to join with a current member or be in the same member category.

Wow. That’s so much cheaper than I thought it would be.

That was from last summer and I think it’s the young professional so it may be a bit dated.

But yeah, if the course was in Columbus or Cincy it’d be 2-3 times as much, at least.

Last numbers I saw for tandem at Springfield was $1000 initiation that can be spread over 2 payments and about $200/month…

Yeah so a bit more expensive than what is shown on that image.

Is this for a JR……. Jeesh that’s cheap. Or does Springfield have like a huge membership or something.

Historically it’s been the opposite from what I understand, they are really struggling for members.

I would think just logistically it’s hard to find a lot of members in Springfield so they need to incentivize Dayton and Columbus folk.

I played it last year. That course will kick your ass but damn that sounds tempting

If someone is relatively serious about it, DM me.

We are closing on a house in the next few weeks, so need to figure out a timeline for something golf related like this but I’m at least considering it, after talking to the membership person there.

I thought mine was cheap. I need to move.

@Creags all over it. Admittedly, I tried to talk him into doing it last year (not sorry)

If I didn’t have kids I might have already joined. It’s just far enough from Columbus to be too much of a pain in the ass.

Can’t say enough nice things about the course though, fun, challenging, and well cared for.

I have young kids too.

Again, tentative thinking……

(2) 18 hole rounds generally covers monthly dues. Can squeeze those in whenever.

(2) PTO days per summer month, where I play until my legs fall off.

This is probably me being optimistic though. :joy:
