It’s not super far from my job either…I may convert.
Been looking to break up with All-American/Sportsville for a long time, and pretty much have in the summer. The winter is a different matter.
How’s the pitch and putt?

The short courses are good. Don’t expect much out of the greens but that probably won’t be why you play them. I think the longest shot you might face is about 90-100 yards. One hole has a water carry. They have a bunker or two to practice sand shots along with chipping. It’s really a top notch facility. I take my 4 year old daughter with me to putt around when I play the wedge courses and they usually let her mess around without charge. Either way it’s only a couple bucks to play.
Great to know. My little guy isn’t 2 yet and is already pretty into whacking balls around with his toy clubs. It’s a matter of time…
When I’m in our Beachwood office Windmill is the choice for me too, wish there was something like it for us westsiders. They also have discounted buckets at lunch time during the week
Joes Piazza on Airway is the correct answer. Make sure to order it well done in the old oven
I’m not a Cleveland native, but I call it home and love living here. So please accept my apologies on behalf of the entire city and region for MGK.
People hate, but if his last album came out in early to mid 2000s it would be even bigger then it was.
Just got my bag tag in the mail. Thanks @flanwilder
Re: Past private club discussion…
Dublin / Plain City / Northwest Burbs area…are there any clubs left that have not gone off the pandemic rails price wise?
Had to wait a year with two little kids and a club that shall be named went from no initiation, to 2k, 4k to now 8k during that time span.
I’m not going to play nearly enough golf to justify something like that…but maybe it is the going rate, now that no one has been able to live a normal life for 2 years.
Feel free to slide in to the DM’s if you don’t want to have this discussion in the Community chat…was just curious what other options there are, as someone who recently moved to the area.
You check Wedgewood? Scioto reserve/Kinsale?
Wedgewood was one I looked at last year but it was just as expensive and had a 15-20 person wait list. Expectation was that they wouldn’t even begin pulling from the wait list until 2022 (12 months out). Which was crazy.
Haven’t looked in to Reserve / Kinsale but may here. I suspect most of these places have very similar initiation fees at this point but was hoping someone had a suggestion of somewhere that may not.
I’m pretty sure someone on here belongs to Scioto/kinsale that would know more about the pricing.
Didn’t know wedgewood had a wait list.
I’ve looked into a handful off and on, I think what you are seeing is pretty common. People are playing and clubs are looking to cash in.
I spoke with one membership director who said they had over 100 new members join last year.
Heard some more good progress news out of the Golf Dome in Chagrin opening soon. Apparently they will have 5 Trackman setups, 3 of which will be on the open range. That means trackman data AND about 60 yards of ball flight. Looks like the highest rate is a weekend too, and $30 an hour.
Pretty sure Wedgy is well into the 15k+ initiation too
I’m sure it is. It was already 10k start of last year.
Based on what everyone else has said, seems as though initiations are at least 50% higher, many more.
Whole situation is wild. Hoping it pulls back in a few years, who knows.
I wonder if there’s a correlation between increased private golf costs and the housing market.
Listen-who could say? I do though often regret not joining somewhere before I turned 40. That said, haven’t dues gone up considerably at a lot of places? So even if you dodged the big nut (shoutout Randy) of a large initiation fee, you’re still shelling out more monthly, right?
Damn didn’t realize it was up to that amount. I’ll have to ask my dad what the amount was when he was one of the original members back in 89
