Roll Call: Ohio (OATW adjacent) and localized ice cream debates (Part 1)

It’s been nearly 20 years since I’ve been there. What I remember is there really aren’t many flat lies. You will definitely have to pick a target and commit. I played it in the summer so I’m not sure how it will play under early season conditions. If I remember correctly, you can’t see the green on the first hole but the fairway runs severely downhill.

I remember playing the Ohio Junior there in 2002. #3(?) I think, is a long par 5 that they dubbed something like “Cardiac Hill” or something of the like because they green is perched a lot higher than the fairway. #10 had cape-hole-sequel qualities for a par 5. The back nine gets claustrophobic in spots and as @FanFirst said, quite undulating. Something cool that I remember, I think there is a cemetery on site, around #5 green maybe? Anyway, you will have different conditions when I played it as well. It was mid-July and around 90*. Hopefully you get a practice round to pick some lines because there are some blind shots. Best of luck!

Appreciate it. I have looked at it on Google Earth a little and it does look like quite the trek. Hopefully it’s not a cold, muddy one

Absolutely! I’d be happy to watch a game or play nine anytime!

We can definitely make something happen. Are you downtown?

Pleasant Ridge. Work in Norwood.

Awesome! There are a couple of us downtown and others near the city. I’m sure we will start meeting up again once spring comes around.

Anybody in the Columbus area wanna get some sim time on Saturday? “The Range” in Dublin has pretty reasonable rates, like $30/hr. I was probably just gonna practice with trackman, but sim golf is also an option for the same rate.

Nice list. If you are willing to drive a little bit outside the area, Deer Ridge is fantastic in Belleville. Eaglesticks is another good track in Zanesville. My favorite is Salt Fork St Park. Toughest 6200 yard track I’ve ever played. Not a flat lie on the course and very fast tricky greens.

May be able to join. I’ve wanted to check that place out but might have to go visit the in laws this saturday.

Never heard of the Salt Fork course. Thanks for the tip.

No problem. It’s about 90 minute drive from Columbus. Usually play 36 bc it’s such a far drive. I’ve played North Star quite a bit- Good track.

What’s your schedule look like for Saturday? I’d prefer morning and they open at 10 AM

Morning works for me, my schedules wide open

Anyone in Cincy looking to play Sunday morning? @Carlitos, @Badatgolf and I are playing Blue Ash GC with an open spot if someone wants to join.
