Would anyone be up for a fall meetup at the course I run in Findlay? Sycamorespringsgolf.com It won’t win any architectural awards but it’s damn fun, always in great shape, easy to get to from most anywhere and maybe the easiest walk you’ve ever done. Who knows if it would work but it’s worth a shot.
Nice!
Looks like 90 minutes from home. I’d love to.
We get a group of guys together it would be fun.
Still looking for a fourth, if interested, to join me, @anon71339061, and @Livi for a round at Denison GC in Granville, Ohio. Tee time is 7:30 am this Saturday, July 27th. If I don’t have a fourth by end-of-day Thursday I’ll either adjust the count, or may bring one of my golf-crazed (yet non-woke) colleagues.
Im definitely looking forward to it. No worries if you bring someone not woke. I am borderline not woke myself. I actually liked Bellerive and my clubs are older than half of the Refugees on here.
Sadly I won’t be able to make it. Big match in my league at Sleepy Hollow this weekend, and pending the results it could drastically free up my August. I look forward to the after round write up though.
@Randy is more than welcome to stop and join us on his way back from “vacation” in Michigan
Any Central Ohio guys make sure to follow @cbusclubhouse on twitter or cbusclubhouse.com for coverage of every thing Central Ohio golf!
Gonna have some fun amateur tournaments next year (par 3, Stableford)
So, another Saturday, another Refugee get together at Denison. This week @Livi and @anon71339061 joined me for a 7:30 tee time. We chose to walk the course, and did not regret it. Well, maybe for a moment on the steep walk from the 13th green up to 14’s tee box, but not other than that.
Our man @Livi went on an absolute tear of one-putting on the front nine: I think he sank 5, some at impressive range. Not to be outdone, @anon71339061 demonstrated a solid short game, and holed a remarkable 30-yard chip, uphill with only the pin for reference, on 16. The careful reader might notice I didn’t mention our performance off the tee. That didn’t gel for our heroes until the majestic 18th tee, towering 180 feet above the fairway below. There, all three tee shots were laid nicely in the center (-ish) of the fairway. First time for everything . We played ready golf with a vengeance: at one point @anon71339061 and I unintentionally did a bit of synchronized golf, landing pitches on the green within about 20’ of each other at the same time.
It was a Hell of a lot of fun. Everyone got a few hero moments: unmakeable putts were made, fairways were split, chips were holed, approaches rolled improbably close to the pin.
Next Denison GC Refugee tee time is the morning of August 24th. DM me if you’d like to come along.
Love the refuge, had a great time with @TwoCents and @Livi. Both good laid back guys who appreciate getting out. Halfway through @Livi flipped a switch and started sending 300 yard bombs off the tee while I started sending double crosses off into places no man had seen before. Thanks for the help finding those. @TwoCents was a great host and knew his way around the course. I would not bet any amount of money against him and his reported handicap. He’s just as good as plenty of 20s, the only difference is he plays straight up and never accepts gimmes——on Donald ross greens that is. Looking forward to the next one!
@TwoCents @anon71339061 Awesome time meeting you fellas. Denison was a treat and am looking forward to Aug/Sep return. Hoping to get together on some other tracks in Cbus area soon.
Hoping to get over this injury soon so I can meet up with fellow Refugees for some good fall ohio golf!
Does anyone by chance belong to Plum Brook CC in Sandusky? I am going to Cedar Point for a 3 day weekend with the family. I am the only one who golfs and I was hoping to play golf one of the mornings quickly and then meet the rest of the family at the park.
TEE TIME DROP
We have a last minute opening at a Cincinnati Golden Age gem!
One lucky Refugee can join @TwoCents, @scuff and @LJP at the one and only Avon Fields Golf Course for a 10:04 AM tee time, this Saturday 8/3/19!
Greens fee covered by yours truly, I would be honored to host you at my GCGA home course, my treat. Let me know if you can make it, I will be playing a 6-club set (only 1 putter). Would love to round out the foursome.
If my member wasn’t this weekend, I would join you guys.
So, Ohio Refugees: I’m playing hooky from the office this Tuesday, August 6th. I’m planning to play The Virtues. I’ve reserved a tee time for myself, but would be happy to have some of you join me. Only condition is I need to be done and on the road by 1pm so I can make my 2pm tee time with a colleague at Denison, just down the road.
DM me if interested. Planning to book tee time first thing Saturday morning.
@TwoCents is a golf JUNKIE. I love it!!
Straight.
Into.
My.
Veins.
Virtues is so good. Play up a tee that you’d think you’ll like and it’ll be a blast. It gets long on the back 9!
