Anyone got intel on New Albany links? Wife’s friend’s husband set up a round for tomorrow. Google maps satellites are showing a whole lot of houses

It’s in HORRIBLE shape right now, they had irrigation issues all summer so it got baked out. It’s been getting torched in reviews online.

When it’s in good shape it’s a fine course, not overly narrow despite winding through houses/tree lined. Couple dumb holes but a couple good ones too. Some of the greens are fairly big and have some distinct quadrants/areas where they can really tuck pins if they want.

Holes 2 and 4 you can cut off a lot more of the dogleg than you realize, definitely aim more left than you think you should.

Hole 5 you need to give yourself plenty of roll out room to the water, everything runs a good 10-20yds further than normal down into that water.

Hole 7 if you’re a longer hitter/play from shorter tees there is a pond on the left that is reachable off the tee especially if the course is firm/baked.

Hole 12 is awful.

Hole 13 you have more room left than you realize off the tee, the pond on the right is absolutely in play if you veer right.

Hole 14 is just like 13 in that you have more room left off the tee than you realize, the trees/backyards right of the bunker are very much in play if you go right.

Hole 15 they moved the OB on the right much closer you don’t have hardly any room right of the cart path from what I remember. Just a layup short of where the water cuts in.

Let me know if you have any questions about any other specific holes.

It’s been a dumpster fire since New Era bought it way back when. It was a perfectly fine public option but that was honestly like 10 + years ago at this point.

This is far more info than I expected - much appreciated! How walkable is it? Looks like maybe a few hikes from greens to tees?

It’s flat but yes definitely a few longer walks from greens to tees. Across roads, under a bridge or two I believe.
4 green to 5 tee is kinda long, same with 8 green to 9 tee.

9 green to 10 tee is a bit out there too, especially if you walk back to the clubhouse while making the turn definitely will be doing some backtracking.

Just a classic Ohio neighborhood course designed for carts rather than walking.

I have no ability to see New Albany Links baked out. Doesn’t seem possible.

Shoutout @ZekeH5 and @skibum232

Unrelated but semi-relevant:

Congrats on the gig!

And yes NA is in rough shape, only played once this year and the amount of rollout was insane.

I agree with prior comments that I love a few holes there but dislike many many more of them.

Update: the superintendent anticipates a frost delay tomorrow so plan on being at the course at 9:30 and we will start as soon as they let us off.

Maybe this course should be allowed to become homes it sounds like hahaha.

This sucks but also doesn’t suck when you have 2.5 hours to drive in the morning

Actually, if we’re there a little earlier, would we be able to use the range? Having only played once in the last two months, and it being cold in the morning, a little warmup seems like a good idea

Yeah that should be fine
