That staircase is a menace. The price of the house seems low. There must be a catch in person. Other than living next to a ghost-infested cemetery.

Played the NOGA event out at Sylvania Country Club yesterday. While I only got to play 13 holes due to a thunderstorm and slow play, it was a really fun day. I can see how that club could be really challenging, especially if you played the back tees. Small greens put the pressure on your irons and wedges, but its hard to lose a ball. After the par 5 second where you hit over water twice, that is.

Would love to get out there again sometime and finish the 18. The par 3 14th was about to be fun right when the horn blew. 215, straight into the fan, blind to the green surface and could only see the flag. It’s a real shame NOGA wouldn’t just wait out the 45 minutes it was going to take for the front to blow through.

Hard to see in this bad photo but there’s a really cool swail in the middle of this green on what could be a boring par 4, but if you’re not on the right section its a hard putt (I wasn’t by the way).

That front was so weak and so quick I cant believe they didnt let you guys get back out. It didnt even rain a quarter inch at my house and Im only a little over 3 miles away as the crow flies.

They called us all in, and once we got there it took them like 7 minutes to just cancel it. There was one real downpour for about 5 minutes and then it started to lighten up quickly. The NOGA people just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.

And they knew the rain was coming for 2 days ahead of time, they could have moved up the tee times by an hour and got the whole thing in. Dudes play SO SLOW in these events too.

Now I am nit-picking NOGA, but they really should set their tee times by section. Can’t be putting a group with a +1, 4, and 5 handicap off second to last behind a group of ā€œsuper seniorsā€.

Agree, they should better match handicaps up. I played with 3 mid-single digits in one and it was kind of uncomfortable. I love playing with guys who are sticks in a casual round, but in the competitive round I get super self conscious.

Did you walk or succumb to the NOGA pressure to ride?

Just saw GCGA has posted a Member’s Play Day at Oasis on August 12. Anyone in Cincinnati area considering playing? I’m a big fan of the course and live too far away to join, definitely going to sign up.

It had become clear that the kids didn’t know the middle aged rednecks that were the problem, so I chose peace and didn’t really push it

Sorry to double post, but any runners in Ohio that want to do Hood to Coast in Oregon the weekend of August 24th? Overnight 12-person 200 mile relay. This will be year 8 I think, so I can answer pretty much any question

@blackhammer - Who the fuck runs for fun. Reasons to run, 1. Bear or equivalent and you don’t have a gun, 2. People with guns and you don’t have a gun, 3. One of the first to and your retrieving your gun, 4. Haven’t learned to drive yet… Just giving you shit hope ya have good weather

If any of you guys are going to the Memorial tournament Friday or Saturday and want something to do after the golf is over, go over to Forefest in Dublin. Music, alcohol, and food. I’ll be mixing the bands over there. Come say hi!

A guy I used to work with runs ultra marathons…he’s one of the only people if not the only person I’ve ever seen who doesn’t look miserable while running. His best 100 mile time was 14 hours 7 minutes…disgusting. That’s like 100 8.5 minute miles or some shit.

No thanks. I have a car.

Once ran a full. Cop at halfway point was like your almost there. Response, ā€œyeah, but I’m running the full so fuck off.ā€ Got a chuckle out of him.

@blackhammer is a force of nature. I like the idea of running but to quote the great Steve Stifflerā€¦ā€that sounds like a lot of work.ā€

Curious, you ever do one of those golf and run competitions?

The truest/darkest answer is that it’s a much more productive way to hate myself than blackout drinking; the peppier answer is having something on the calendar helps motivate day to day ā€˜training’ and staying in a ready state of fitness that makes life more fun.

The race itself is so cool, you start at a usually snow-capped mountain and end at the Pacific. It’s like 13-20 total miles across 3 legs. Getting out of the van to run after midnight is an experience. Time becomes but a construct, man. Night sky views without light pollution are incredible out in the middle of Oregon.

@joecline41 I haven’t but it would be fun, sometimes jogging to keep up with carts or to make hills go faster leads to a bit of a biathlon feel

WTTR was freaking incredible and another exceptional OATW Roost event. Big G Golf was played.

For your consideration and review…
