Scores are all added to Unknown and will be posted to GHIN.
We had several people that would have qualified yesterday……as a 2 of 4 best ball…….net.
The best any team did gross best ball was T43.
Individually we had a 4-way tie for first that would have placed T33….net.
The best individual scores gross were @tmck14 and @vwhitehead4417 with a 75 and 76. That would have put them T37 and T43. Great scores for mere mortals.
We did a much smaller group last year. Next year it will just depend on how the PGA and USGA schedules and sites shake out.
As long as there is another final qualifier next year, I will probably run this back exactly the same next year. Maybe try to add a couple more tee times but the event size worked out pretty well for a random week day in June.
Today was awesome! After a miraculous putt I made on 1 and pars on 2 and 3, my day was mostly downhill from there. But I got to watch some great golf be played by @UncleDrew@Reggie1@nlaslow54 who were a pleasure to play with and thankfully put up with my crappy game.
It was a spectacular day. Didn’t really eject, but 5 (I think) 3-putts did not help the ole score. Highlight for me was hitting it to about 10 inches on 9 (yes I made the putt) and having one of the kids working there ask who hit it as we got up to the green. Really juiced the ego. Once again, a thousand thanks to @PersistentlyOverPar for setting everything up
Had a great time with great people. @PersistentlyOverPar thank you for hosting, the course, staff, experience, and camaraderie is spectacular. Look forward to playing in as many as I can and hopefully hosting some guys in Urbana sometime.
I’d love to come play Urbana some time. If only for the fact that I’m interested in having lunch at that restaurant near the railroad tracks that looks like a hipster butcher shop
Thanks so much for the hospitality yesterday. I’ve recovered from the heat exhaustion or whatever it was that kept me out a couple holes. Really pissed me off bc I was playing ok. Great meeting @dfresh285 and @tmck14. @MDM as always was a first-rate hang. Golf with Internet friends new and old remains undefeated.
Special shout out to the Springfield pro shop staff. Those guys were the most welcoming crew at a private club I’ve seen in a long time. Super laid back vibe.
Set up was tough but not punishing. A great test to see where your game really is. I flushed a solid day away in 10 minutes on 5 and 6 (definitely had the shortest drive of the day on 6) , stayed locked in and almost shot my goal. Didn’t see anyone get ejected on good shots. Rough was a menace.
It was my third time there. Vibe cannot be beat. Don’t feel like you’re about to get read the riot act for breaking an unwritten rule and everyone truly seems happy to have you there.
That house makes me want to move to Springfield almost as much as SCC. It’d be almost double that price down here.
To echo the masses, I had a great time yesterday. My group’s energy was immaculate the entire round. I didn’t see anyone get ejected like my two previous trips to SCC in similar conditions, although my putter almost grew wings on 9 after another missed 3-4 footer hah
