Roll Call: Ohio (OATW adjacent) 2025 Major now official

Dayton area golf courses if I had to rank them
1 WGC in xenia
2 Beaver creek
3 Yankee trace
4 pipestone
5 heatherwoode
6 hills and dales
7 grey wolf

Personally I would rather play 1,6, and 7 on a regular basis easier on my wallet and typically in decent shape. Beaver creek is the best of the city owned courses in the Dayton area they actually enforce pace of play the rest are hit or miss on it

@jobu415 yeah damn phones and autocorrect

NEO: IF I was going to play Highland park, should I aim for red or blue?

I’d pick the red over the blue that being said I don’t think either are particularly great

Blue is the 18 hole ā€œchampionshipā€ course. Red is quirkier and fun for 9.

I’m going to throw another course in the mix that has had a Renaissance recently. Great condition. Interesting holes. New ownership clubhouse and staff that’s better than your average:

Woodland Golf Club. Central Ohio gem (you don’t hear that often).

Just played yesterday for the first time. Apparently the red course is under construction according to their website, so be aware of that.

Format for roost regionals is 90% handicap tilt. All four scores count. Refresher on tilt below.

I just now saw this and should have joined you. My son and I played at 11:30 and left after 15 to get home because of a dinner reservation. Pace of play left a lot to be desired. Some of the greens were in rough shape but I always enjoy playing that place.

Love Deer Ridge! It’s been too long. Can’t swing the 80 min drive during Open viewing window but have a blast

Sweet I’m going, definitely going to be part of the reason we don’t win. But got the points so I’m in

It was so slow. The dudes two groups ahead were the issue. At one point I saw one cart drive up to a ball to hit and then drive back 150 yards to hit another ball. I picked up one of their beer cans from the fairway…

Edit: Google sheet says Access Denied on mobile, but is working on desktop.

I’m surprised our Major winner that’s also still alive in the matchplay didn’t qualify for an auto spot, but I guess participation in team events matters more.

Strange. I was just checking, but it was on desktop. I have no idea why it would depend on the platform.

I was never under the impression that this was a definitive list, just a tool to help the group decide. There is nothing stopping the @jgolf1 or the rest of the group having the Major winner included. It ultimately comes down to if we are treating the RCC as an additional opportunity to reward the combination of play and participation throughout the season.

This seems unnecessary and feels very dismissive of a single 36 hole team event.

  1. This is using a team event as part of a greater process of picking a team for another event
  2. While we ā€œonlyā€ had 16 spots, anyone had a chance to fill those spots. We definitely needed players all the way up to the end. Two of our own even jumped sides so we could have it.
  3. More people got the same/more points for their performance in the major than that one event (20 vs 16)
