Agreed. I’ve never had that happen either. Might be an issue on my end.
That’s fair. When I hear Order of Merit, that feels pretty definitive, not just one aspect of deciding the team. Based on the responses above, others seem to have interpreted it the same way too.
Apologies, it wasn’t meant to be dismissive. It just seems strange that our group had two stroke play events this season and neither of the winners qualified for spots, despite performing well in everything they’ve attended (both are still alive in Matchplay).
While I want to encourage as much participation as possible, focusing that much on it versus performance makes it tough for guis to show up if they know they can’t attend everything.
I’m a big fan of rewarding participation as far as getting our group. We only had 29 for the major, barely filled Springfield and had to recruit to get people for the Rust Belt.
Also, that’s no shade to anyone. I only played in two events and I hosted one of them. We are all busy and have lives outside of this website. Also, shoutout to those who helped compile this stuff.
Completely fair. In my head, I hear Order or Merit like the Ryder Cup usage. There are some auto-qualifiers, but the final spots are filled with captains picks. It is just intended to be a tool.
Now that I’ve been schooled on how to read and that I probably shouldnt have read the tilt rules at like 230am last night I feel like we are going to have a good time in Pennsylvania. I was highly looking forward to the release of this list since I can’t attend the NIT (don’t have friends, let alone those who would choose a November wedding). I was also surprised and a bit sad not to see myself in the top 4.
If we end up needing an alternate, I’ll keep the weekend open.
Would you be able to do sweetens the first weekend of October? Welcome party Friday evening and golf through most of Sunday if the team makes it to the final 4, and lodging sunday night is included?
