I hate to complain about playing golf, but I was not prepared for my league to start on 3/31 and wrap up on 10/4.
The auction supporting our friend, @GooseTrego closes today. Open up the wallets and letās do some good today!

Is anyone in NEO available for a match on Sunday? Willing to travel 90 minutes. I live right down the road from Sleepy Hollow in Brecksville for reference
Will be working in Columbus for the next 3 plus weeks, any courses or specials I should be checking out? Iāll be staying in town over the weekends as to far to get home and hanging out in the CMH airport area mostly.
Will you have a rental car/How far do you want to drive?
What kind of courses do you prefer? Tight tree-lined courses, courses in the middle of nowhere, wide open courses with some mounds, etc.
Thereās a decent number of solid public courses you can play for under $75 within say 45 min. of the airport.
Dennison (Donald Ross design) and Virtues are out East, Virtues is always ranked as one of the best public courses in the state.
If you want some rural courses without many houses around but are still fun layouts for ~$40-50, The Links at Echo Springs, St. Albans, Kyber Run come to mind.
If you donāt mind a tree-lined narrow course, Champions Golf Club is a City of Columbus course that requires a good deal of accuracy.
Turnberry in Pickerington is another City of Columbus course but it is far more open than Champions, wonāt lose too many balls here.
Right across the street from the airport is Airport Golf Course, City of Columbus course as well, I havenāt played there in a few years.
New Albany Links isnāt far from the airport, usually in pretty good shape, winds through houses.
Westchester is similar to New Albany Links, winds through houses.
To the North you have Delaware Golf Club (Donald Ross again)
To the West you have Golf Club of Dublin, Darby Creek, etc among others.
Let me know if you have any specific questions about any of those, theyāre all within like 45min of the airport and Iāve played them all.
Got 2 spots for sleepy Saturday at 7. You get to play with @quicktempo and have to play with me.
Iām not able to play this weekend, lots of family stuff.
If anyone is free Friday the 12th Iām off that day and will be looking to play in the afternoon.
Damn, Iām already playing Sleepy at 830 on Saturday with some non-refuge folks. Iām in the Cleveland area and need to start getting matches in, so will be down in the coming weeks though.
Thanks for the breakdown! Good stuff. Iāll be driving and mobile and should be able to check 4-5 of those courses out. Actually bringing the dog and boarding in Columbus rather than here, 3+ weeks is a long time to be out of town. Itās like the Clampetts go to Ohio.
Iām out of town this weekend but would love to be bundled up at Sleepy. Enjoy!
Also traveling this weekend unfortunately. Hit em straight
Spots are claimed
BUMP
Only a handful of spots left to make this a full 32 (at which point Iād call and get another tee time or two). Call your friends, post on X, etc. Letās fill this thing nice and early so we can expand the field.
Truly pains me to miss this. Anybody on the fence, sign up! Iām team Sleepy but I respect team āKiki
Ladies and gents, I need a spot of advice, especially from those of you who are signed up to participate in the Walk in the Park this September. In short, Iām considering moving the event up a week, to coincide with the Kroger LPGA tournament in Cincinnati 9/19-22. Might make for an added bit of fun for the weekend.
And, maybe, if weāre crazy lucky, one of the pros that miss the cut could join us for Saturdayās round. Just a thought.
Anyways, I didnāt want to make this change without consulting the Refuge community. Please feel free to shoot it down if you think itās a bad idea, or if it doesnāt work with your personal schedule. Thanks!
Sounds good to me.
Yeah, that works for me as well
Anybody else playing in the scramble event at Boulder Creek tomorrow?
