We definitely need to get out there! This weekend will be tough because it’s my wife’s birthday, but maybe next Saturday. Sunday is Mother’s Day

wait wait wait for as much as i would love to take the credit, i didnt give @anon29849602 any tips lol… i think it was the culmination of a bunch of drunk people that night trying to get him to make a larger turn in the backswing

Just played Glen Dornoch (NC adjacent) blustery day to say the least. Lots of accuracy needed. Didn’t break out driver much unless I moved back to tips on some holes. Greens were super firm too, luckily bushnell gps does good job of giving front of green readings
Shout-out @Double_Bogey_Dave for the recommendation

this looks more than worth the $25 being charged

What were your favorite and least favorite holes at Glen Dornoch?

Least: 16. Awkward length tee shot left 190 into the wind into a narrow green with crap on the right and tree hanging over green on the left.

Most: 3 - 285 yd par 4 . Reason:
38l1il

Played as single and got around in 2:50. I am notoriously fast, most likely to my detriment. 15 gets honorable mention due the tree in middle of fairway but close enough to green that you can loft it over

Southwick was previously (back in the day) named Confederate Acres

16 is a very tough hole, one I’ve never done well on. Wish it was less penal. View is good though!

I like the opening stretch, 8 and 9, the middle part of the back, dogleg left par 5, then the finish of particularly coming down towards 16, and then 18. 18 is a good risk/reward finishing hole.

8 and 9 are awesome. They had me go off 10 today. Tried to use the wind to draw one into green on 9 but wind died down as I hit it and landed against the barrier wall.

18 I drove into the bunker at end of fairway. And had to wedge out. Oof

Here are some pics I took there a long time ago.

There uses to be a great 27 hole course across the street, Heather Glen. It is being/has been developed into housing. Wish it was still around

Hey guys, dropping in here with a request for information.

Long story short: I live just outside of Boston now, but have a really good job offer that would move me to the Triangle. Workplace would be in the Brier Creek area. All of my interviews have been via phone or Zoom, so I can’t visit the workplace or travel to the Triangle to look around. My avatar probably gives it away that I’m a Duke alum, but I graduated in 2001 and haven’t been back to the Triangle much since that time.

So I’m looking for the good, bad and ugly of living in the Triangle. FWIW, I am married with a 6 year old son, so schools are important to us. Also, coming from Boston, my idea of bad traffic is going to differ from the North Carolina idea of bad traffic. Happy to discuss via PM if people don’t want to derail the golf talk in here.

Cary, Northern Durham, Southern Durham (Jordan HS area), Chapel Hill, Holly Springs, Apex, and North Raleigh are your best bets.

If working in Brier Creek, North Raleigh may be the least attractive for commuting purposes, but it’s not that bad compared to Boston.
