Yeah i stopped by yesterday with the lady to take a walk on the greenway. The park itself is closed and they course as well. I was surprised as my buddies played it Thursday and we talked about going today.
Haven’t heard of anyone else being closed either. Guess it was the town’s decision.
Well shoot, hopefully other courses can stay open, even if it’s walking only. I’m not sure Jamestown’s management of this was the greatest, I was there for a late afternoon 9 on 3/21 and I didn’t notice any changes to the golf operation, maybe the water fountains were off, but I didn’t want to try it. Certainly saw groups ahead of me pulling flag sticks and using ball washers.
We played 3/20 and there was nothing noticeably different than usual. They let my buddies share a cart. When I told the guy I was walking he said it’s $5 to ride?
Ah gotcha. Yeah IMO calls into question how seriously they were taking things, promoting taking a cart when walking is the safer option given the circumstances.
I’ve seen BP is still holding their men’s association tourneys as far as I know, not sure what they’re doing for the lunches they usually provide, but I’m avoiding playing in events until the situation improves.
My dad is PISSED. He retired last year and just level up’d to Cart Boy at J-Town. This is something he’d been looking forward to for 20 years: free golf and another reason to be at the course. Pretty sure he’s mowing his lawn 2x daily now that its closed for a bit.
hahaha that sucks man…my next door neighbor works out there also
i saw him a week or so again and he said he was on the schedule through march, but told them to take him off the schedule come april cause he wasnt messing around with the covid and was staying home
Played out at Wendell CC yesterday. Any Triangle folks played out there? It was… interesting. Some crazy greens & pin positions on the front, back 9 flatter greens but waaaay too many trees and fairways with too much slope for how little grass was on some of them. Not great!
For some reason my work buddies like it out there, but they also love the Preserve at Jordan Lake so I don’t trust their golf course judgment.
ok that got a laugh out of me, thanks for that! I haven’t played there since high school, so going back over 10 years ago, must be just as bad as I remember.
I just looked at the 18 hole pictures of the track out of sheer boredom, and I have encountered a similar track once in my life. Never played it again. Hunting Hills here in Roanoke, has a similar tight layout with logs of dog legs. Fuck that shit.
Oh yeah, Hunting Hills, played it a couple years ago. Some bizarre holes for sure. That downhill par 3 on the front (I think #4) is pretty wild. The stretch of 10-12 will get some head shakes.
Quick follow up for everybody re: Tot Hill Farm. New management is fully in place, and they’ve a month or so now under their belt to work on getting the course in shape. They probably aren’t all of the way there yet, but I imagine within the next few weeks it will be as good as it’s been in a long time.
We’ve gotten inventory up and running on GN.com this week, and there are a few good options. One with golf, range balls and your choice of either f&b or merch credit, one with golf and range balls, and one just golf. Everything is under $50 during the week and $60 on the weekend. No movement on a refuge promo code just yet bc I don’t think now’s the time to make that ask. Once all this crap blows over, I’ll get something set up.
