I’m seeing $95 online, but I’m not sure if that’s an online rate or not. I’ll ask when I call

Pictures in the WhatsApp chat look awesome. You guys are making me super jealous to not be back at home. Play well, stay warm, ill catch a round in 2 months and counting.

White swan in Smithfield is very good and about as authentic a place as you can get. Right past CCJC when you get off the highway

yeah, white swan looks awesome…sheesh

Yeah Integrity was a shit show. They went tits up about as fast as I’ve ever seen from a mgt company. Most of their properties were in/around Orlando. They leased both Tot Hill and Forest Oaks. Their playbook was to run everything on shoestring budget and pump rounds, but they couldn’t do it sustainably.

Forest Oaks is awesome now that the new owners and management are in place. The course is in fantastic shape and they are putting a ton of capex into all of their facilities. Clubhouse is getting renovated bit by bit, pool is going to be majorly upgraded, and they’re going to put in a simulator in the fall.

Tot Hill is still trying to find some stable management, but I think they are pretty close. If it goes through, I would expect conditions out there to improve dramatically, as the new group has some real talent on the agronomy front

i am glad to see Forest Oaks has moved over to local management, people who are from the area and have a history in the community/neighborhood.

there is a lot of buzz around here about the positive things going on at FO and i look forward to seeing what the next couple of years bring. hopefully they can return to some of their former glory

Got the tee time at noon, room for 3. Greens fee is $95 and not any cheaper to walk, unfortunately. If two more people are interested we can jump back to 12:40.

That’s great to hear about Tot Hill. I could not be a bigger fan of that course. I hope everything works out.

I have a few rounds in at Forest Oaks this year and can see it is already coming around. I’m excited to see how great it will be.

Forest Oaks is a really fun course, I am glad to hear it’s on the upswing.

Would be a great place for a meet-up.

Forest Oaks has a couple of weird holes (first par 5 on the front) but you can do wayyyy worse in terms of value for public golf in Greensboro (lookin at you Bryan Park). Good variety - especially on the back. #11 is a beast of a par 4.

Tot Hill (aka JV Tobacco Road) is a good time 1-16 if you enjoy Stranz. 17 and 18 just don’t fit with the rest of the course but not sure what else you do to get back to the clubhouse given how the land is laid out.

I couldn’t disagree more on BP not being a good value. $34 on weekdays after 2 with a cart to play the Champs, I’ll take that every day. If you want to talk about overpriced public golf, look at Grandover

Live in Waynesville but work over here in Asheville.

Hey All - first time poster to this thread. Live on the North Side of Greensboro, from Cary originally and love me some Triad golf.

Cheers.

No doubt on grandover - barely give it a thought anymore.

Last time I played at Bryan was early in the spring last year - right at 50 bucks on a weekday and conditions weren’t great. Decent layout but I will freely admit my judgement is clouded since it’s a haul for me to get there from where I live. Especially compared to other options in the triad that are more prone to deals on their websites or Golfnow (Forest Oaks, Oak Hollow, Tanglewood, etc).

correct…ive never heard anyone speak poorly about BP champions course pertaining to value for what you get

grandover is a joke

love me some G Nat

the triad in general would be a good place for a meet up IMO…im kind of disappointed the big NC meet up is going to be CLT to be completely honest as i think the triad has much more to offer in terms of both golf and BBQ and arent really all that far behind as far as the brewery scene is concerned

its makes for a better central location for the state as a whole and much easier to navigate as a whole

i never go to BP cause its an absolute haul from where im at in HP…once they finish the new loop around the northern part of GSO though it will be a lot more accessible and cut out the hassle of taking 40 through GSO

The Triad would be a solid option. Lots of good courses all over.

We really have an embarrassment of riches in NC. Every town seems to have a good course or two.

We could also do Pinehurst on a budget with all the good courses in the area outside of the high dollar ones. For example, I could see it being very easy to rent out a course like Hyland all day for a reasonable rate. Hyland is so underrated.
