Roll Call: North Carolina

That worked. It didn’t yesterday for some reason (maybe I dialed one too many 3s).

Walking at twilight over there is $20 for sure. I’ve been playing exclusively because of that. How’s Legacy looking? From the pictures it seems pretty decent. Good call on Foxfire and Whispering Pines; have you been over to Whispering Woods?

Talking to the guys in the clubhouse at SPGC, it looks like the group that just bought them is in the process of evaluating the course to determine any types of renovations needed. It definitely deserves the same treatment as Pine Needles/Mid-Pines, but I would hate to see the pricing be jacked up and make it regularly unplayable because of that.

Absolutely agree with you about renovations and hoping it doesn’t price SPGC out of the range of the everyday local player. As excited as I was to hear that someone with a great chance of actually closing a deal to buy it had plans for its renovations, my second reaction was, “Oh crap, I won’t be able to play it often if it becomes a > $100 round.” I know the Elks couldn’t really afford to run the place, but they did keep it reasonable to play in the offseason.

I played Legacy in December and it was in decent shape. It has definitely slid a little downhill in recent years in terms of conditioning–nothing horrendous IMHO–but it went from being a “great” option to a “good” option.

If you get a chance, wander up to Quail Ridge in Sanford. It used to be a goat track, but I was out there this fall because my son had a middle school tournament there and it was in awesome shape.

I play a lot of Sunday afternoon golf–hit me up sometime if you’re looking for a playing partner at SPGC.

Tot Hill has some wild elevation changes. I love the course as much as TR, but it doesn’t drain very well.
I heard that Integrity Golf took over management for a year and ran it into the ground and left like a thief in the night. Anyone heard that?

For $29 it is a great deal even though its not my favorite course. If you gave me a choice, I’d play Tobacco Road 99 out of 100 times but at the price its worth it. I’d be up for going up one day to play it if anyone wanted to go during the week

Agreed on singing its praises… played a ton of rounds there in grad school. So many great hole layouts! Hard to pick my favorite, all the par 3’s are amazing except for maybe #13.

Heard the same thing. I live in Greensboro and Integrity did the same thing to Forest Oaks at the same time. That course went through some lean years when Integrity was running it. Forest Oaks now has new ownership and everything is coming around again.

I’m probably going to play Occoneechee on Sunday AM.

Hey man! Thanks for the reply! Sorry I couldn’t work something out, something came up for this afternoon and I had to hit a quick 9 in the AM. Will keep sending out plans and hopefully we can link up.

Hey all, long time first time, figured this wouldn’t be the worst place for my first post. Been in Charlotte for a couple years, originally from Winston.

Got out to Springfield this Sunday for the first time and first round of the year. A bit soggy and the greens were incredibly shaggy, but the track was actually surprisingly good. Feel like it will take another trip or two around the place to really get comfortable out there due to some of the sight-lines that you’re provided off of the tee, really felt a lot more cramped then it actually is when you get out in the fairway or look green to tee.

Thanks man, appreciate it! Seems like there’s a good amount of people from the 704 judging by the Charlotte meet-up thread.

Welcome @deadheaddeac! I assume you went to Wake, but we won’t hold that against you.

i remember stopping at Ralphs in Roanoke Rapids right off 95 as a kid, it was ok but not sure the buffet style is the best option

parkers in wilson is the obvious choice, but its probably what 10-15 off 95?

what else yall got?

stormin normans looks to be right off 95 and gets decent reviews…anyone?

Parkers probably best bet – how far south is he going?
