Welcome to WS! Recentish transplant here as well.

In the early stages of planning a golf trip for annual buddies in 2026. We like to stay in or around NC for most of them, this year we’re doing a big one to Sand Valley but would like to bring it back close to home prob 2026. Past trips are pinehust, caledonia, kiawah etc. Been wanting to a mtn trip, so I have thought about the following:

Stay at Waynesville Inn & Golf

Thursday 18 at Springdale on the way in
Friday am 18 at Maggie Valley/PM 18 at Waynesville
Sat 18 at Waynesville

We kinda like 18/36/18 as our cadence, 4 rounds. None of us have ever played any of these courses. Any feedback/advice on these or the area would be appreciated. Open to other course suggestions if necessary, don’t want to drive too far from where we stay.

I don’t think you can go wrong with that. Haven’t played it myself but have heard good things about Sequoya national and it’s only about 30 minutes west of Waynesville.

Yeah I want to fit Sequoya in honestly, but it’s the other direction from where we come from, but still may be worth the drive.

If you’re coming in from the Asheville side, I’ve also always enjoyed Reems Creek just north of the Asheville. Solid mountain course and from what I’ve heard, it survived Helene better than most area courses.

Hi all, I moved to the Raleigh area (Youngsville specifically)from Northern California about 9 months ago and just now getting into figuring out the golf courses and where to play after the winter and my wife having a baby about 2 months ago. I, unfortunately, wasn’t super involved with the roost out in CA but hoping to play a bit more here. I was curious what the suggestion were from the group are on where to play in the area? Also, was wondering if anybody would be able to share the link to join the WhatsApp group? Thanks!

I’ve never been but Waynesville is on my list of places to have a weekend getaway sooner than later. I’ve heard good things about the accommodations and vibe and course.

Waynesville is great. Got the lit putting green and bring some headlamps/spotlights and play the 5-hole wedge course too.

Sequoyah is not to be missed if you haven’t played a lot of mountain golf. Maggie is ok and is nice/reliable, but Sequoyah Natty is special for public mountain golf. One of best on east coast and will make your trip. Springdale is good too, but the people there are even better (food is great too)!

Nailed Springdale one the head, what a great place!

Love the house by 13 green with the creek running under the breezeway!
