Dean Dome isn’t near down town, interested to see where they put the replacement
Going to be in Charlotte for work on the 20th. Any recommendations for downtown Charlotte to watch the national championship? Staying at the Kimpton. Happy to meet up with guys if anyone is downtown.
The Kimpton is right around the corner from several options where you’d be able to watch the game.
Beyond that you could also walk a little further to Duckworths or The Corner Pub.
Any good course suggestions between Charlotte and Pinehurst? Doesn’t need to be anything special, just looking for a twilight round to knock some winter rust off before playing Tobacco Road and Pine Needles in the following days. We had Red Bridge circled due based purely on proximity to the route.
Eagle Chase is also a solid option.
I believe they prefer if you refer to it as “Uptown”
Indeed!
@bcoxrcm gave some good recommendations if you’re trying to stay in Uptown
Could also hop on the light rail and head down into Southend or up into Noda if you’re looking to check out some more active neighborhoods
Gentlemen - I am planning a weekend trip to the Southern Pines and Aiken area. Golf courses include Tobacco Road, one or two of Mid Pines/Southern Pines/Pine Needles, Forest Creek, and Broomsedge (in SC).
I am looking for any good restaurant recommendations in the Southern Pines area, we will likely stay there for two nights in the first portion of the trip. Will take any recommendations from Michelin level TC-approved high end creative places to Strapped-style joints as well.
Chapman’s in SP always hits.
Lisi in the Village is more on the TC end of approved options.
Iron wood
Chef warrens
Just to be pedantic, none of that is in Aiken lol
But sounds like a great trip!
Indeed, mea culpa time! We’ll be in the general vicinity of Columbia SC, not Aiken. We’ve gone through several iterations of airports (RDU, CLT, CAE, GSO) and home bases for this trip and got my SC cities confused. Big T regrets the error.
In S Pines area the best restaurants include 195, Chef Warren’s, Wolcott’s. Pinehurst has Lisi, Villagio, and Elliots on Linden. This is the fine dining list IMO. For more normal eats in S Pines go to Chapmans or hit the food trucks at Red’s Corner. (Sadly the best truck THe Gravy Train has left Reds and is up in Carthage now). In Pinehurst go to Drum and Quill or the local fav Maxie’s. For local breakfast run down to Kenny’s. Hole in the wall goodness. I also like Sizzlin Steak and Eggs for breakfast (on Hwy 1 in Aberdeen/SPines). I have not been to Sly Fox lately but am informed it is great. Habernero Taqueria has excellent Mexican food.Do not hesitate to try it. Mason’s and Workshop Tavern in Aberdeen are both excellent.
Good morning NC Hitters,
Going to to be out east, in the Washington, NC area for a wedding LDW this summer. Trying to get 18 in on Friday the 29th. With the big boys (Pinehurst, Tobacco) too far inland to be realistic options, what tracks would you recommend? From what I’m seeing Cypress Landing looks solid, and might be able to get on as a guest. Please lmk and tyia!!
EW
Check out Occano as well. Used to be called Scotch Hall Preserve. Right near the bay.
Will do! Thank you!
Cypress Landing is a solid course and will be real close to you. Its also public so you will have no trouble getting out. Best course in the area is in my opinion is Cutter Creek which is probably 45 mins away from Washington. Occano is good too I just havent been out there since the new ownership. I went to school in Greenville, NC so very familiar with the courses in that area.
Played Cypress Landing a couple of times. Solid neighborhood course and everything is in front of you. Cool signature hole (downhill par 3 hitting at the Pamlico River) and a couple other fun shots. Agree with previous poster that if you have time, go to Cutter Creek in Snow Hill. Best public course I’ve played east of I95 (haven’t been up to Occano yet but will make it up there this spring). Always in fantastic shape no matter the time of year and shouldn’t be too busy even on a Friday. Either Occano or Cutter Creek would be your best options if you have time to make the drive.
