I should be in town that weekend.

Love the gumption.

It sounds like you’re thinking of hoofing it around town when you’re here—not a great option as we don’t like sidewalks here in MooreCo and some of the places you want to go are off busy roads.

If you’re looking for some golf when you’re down, hit me up and I can likely get you on at Longleaf for a round.

I should be in town that weekend if you’d like to meetup for a round.

I won’t be much help with a place to pitch a tent. A bunch of neighborhoods here have HOAs that won’t allow the Griswold’s RV or a friendly Canadian tent. Quite literally, NIMBY.

If you’re staying outside of the resort and thus won’t have access to the Pinehurst shuttles to get around the village and the golf courses, I think you’d have to Uber or get a rental car.

What’s the roost for North Carolina?

First Flight …not closely followed by queen city hive lol

The Roost that represented the State of NC and the Mid South Region in the Roost Club Championship was the Queen City Hive (Charlotte metro/Western Carolina/Edinburgh - shoutout @JamesHCard).

First Flight is the occupying Roost for much of the rest of the state.

Thanks for looking out @rkris, I think I will be getting a tantalizing car after all.

On the Sunday (the 19th) I’m looking at Talamore before I fly out, but if you’ll have me on at Longleaf somewhat early in the morning (need to head to Raleigh Durham by 1ish) that would be a lot of fun. Send me a message if that might work for ya.

@cgroom thanks for the heads up. @Harper has generously offered a solution to keep me from sleeping on the ground!

I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting a rental car based on the recommendations here and looking into it all a bit.

For Saturday I’m looking at Pine Needles in the morning and Southern Pines in the afternoon, if you’re interested in one or both, send me a message and I’ll put you down with me.

For Sunday just waiting to hear from @rkris about Longleaf, but otherwise looking at Talamore. Hope we can get something worked out!

How do I get involved with first flight, I’m in the eastern half of the state

I’m coming out to NC this weekend and might be able to play on Friday. I’m going to be up in Greensboro for a wrestling tournament. Fly in Thursday night, but Friday is just weight cut/weigh ins. I don’t really need to be around much for the weight cut portion. So I’m thinking I could squeeze in a round Friday morning early. Any strong recommendations in that area? Saturday/Sunday going to be stuck inside yelling at kids all day. Staying on the southwest side of town down by the Coliseum.

You came to the right place for golf!

On the southwest side specifically there are a couple good spots, although not actually in Greensboro.

Jamestown Park Golf Course (Jamestown, NC)
Oak Hollow Golf Course (High Point, NC)

If you are open to other areas of Greensboro:

Bryan Park (2 courses)
The Cardinal
Greensboro National
Gillespie (9 holer downtown. Old Maxwell design)

Depending on how far you want to drive and where exactly your staying, Holly Ridge in Archdale is very good. Might be 20-ish minutes from that side of town.

what age and weight?

Bringing about 20ish high school kids. Will be interesting to see how some of them do. Super 32’s is the toughest high school wrestling tournament in the country.

we were scheduled to be there with my son’s club but he’s injured currently

Friday morning isn’t looking the best for golf. If the weather forecast improves and you are still looking for a round I should be able to get out.

Well shoot! Hopefully the rain holds off until the afternoon. I grabbed a 8:50 at Grandover (East). Jamestown wouldn’t let me book in the morning for just two people it didn’t look like. Bryan Park looked really good, but nothing that fit in the time we needed. Grandover was only 11 minutes from our hotel so should work good. There was still two more spots available when I booked the two. One of the other coaches is coming with me.
