@Fore20 Iāll play ya for it? The ole play-in game! Could be like 2 11seeds battling it out for rights into march madness. Iām building the new childrenās museum in High Point and would love to get out to Holly Ridge. Iām unfortunately out of town this weekend, but next or next would work for me!

holly ridge is a good choice, much safer for you than jamestown would have been

Headed to Oak Island next week and definitely planning to play Oak Island GC and will have time for 1 other round. Wonāt be able to go as far up as Wilmington this time or down into Little River/NMB areas either, so Iāve looked at CFN, Lockwood, and Riverās Edge as possibilities based on what Iāve seen in this thread and accounting for time and distance. If you had to play only one over the others what would you play?
Also if anyone in the area is looking for a round or needs another refugee let me know.

Last time I played Lockwood it was not in great shape at all (about a month ago), Rivers Edge was in ok shape but could be better now. And itās a really pretty course. I belong to CFN and itās probably in the best shape of the three. But weāve had a massive amount of rain last weekend so itās been wet/CPO the last few days. They did the greens about 4 weeks ago and they really worked on the fairways for drainage so itās been a little patchy but will eventually be in much better shape soon.

@Fore20 @DMBGoJacketsā¦ I donāt want to be part of the play in but I am happy to be the impartial score keeper and join you for the round if I am free. Just trying to keep it on the up and up (and weasel my way into a fun round)

Oak Island is a great course. Try Brunswick national, I havenāt played it while in the area yet, but told I need to. If close enough. I stayed in the blue house on oak island gc on hole 9 green. Love it
Anyone been over to Bald Head Island this year and played BHI Club? Normally there in June (right after they aerate) but had to delay our trip this year to next week. Read in the newsletter they had a full tee sheet last week but hoping to get on once or twice next week.

So just realizing here that there is a Cape Fear National and a Carolina National. I see Cape Fear is near Wilmington, but I have been thinking Carolina National when I was looking around at courses. What are the thoughts on Carolina National?
I played both Rivers Edge and Carolina National three weeks ago. Both were in very good shape. Iām a fan of both. Carolina Nash has 3 nines and I think Heron and Ibis are the best combo. They each are on the side of the property that have some holes along the river. If you can get Heron/Ibis I think itās very close to Rivers Edge but I give the nod to RE. You canāt go wrong with either.

I played carolina national once, in the spring, the course was a mess. That was just my thought. The course was cool. The 18 hole combo he said is the good ones. Rivers Edge is an Arnie course too! Carolina national is a fred couples. Also Oak Island GC is a George Cobb design, I have enjoyed all the Cobb courses that I have played.
Yeah Iām looking forward to Oak Island. Iām a big fan of Cobb as well.

Donald Ross left his mark across the Triangle. Great courses within an hour!
I get to play BHI pretty frequently, though havenāt gotten out there over the past month. They aerated earlier (Befinning of May) this year, so the course is recovered. Has been in really nice shape. Crowded on the island right now, and tee sheets do look full. There are a few slots open each day it looks like, but slim pickings. Hope you can get out!

Anybody get into the Golferās Journal Tobacco Road event? Looks like I did. I know lots of people here play there all the time, but if anybody is going let me know. Iāll prob start a thread under travel planning if nobody else has/does.
