Roll Call: North Carolina

The Pointe, Carolina Club, Kilmarlic are all pretty good. Albemarle Plantation is a drive but is supposed to be worth it.

Kilmarlic is good, but will be a bit of a hike from Carolla. Currituck Club will be close by. Seascape and DuckWoods next closest places. All are fine, but none are “must play”. If you guys like to play golf and want a break from the beach they’re all decent options.

Played there on Christmas Day (visiting the in laws) and it was a gem. Whole place to myself for super cheap.

If you get down that way and ever want someone to play with, don’t hesitate

Anyone know a few courses around Raleigh that drain really well? Want to play Sunday but don’t want to be walking in puddles.

  1. I think you should bring your friends to Hyland because its the right move.
  2. I haven’t actually played it for a few weeks, but Pine Hollow was soooo dry and fast last time I was out there I would like to imagine they drain well and would be playable. Other’s might chime in with more knowledge there though.

Nags Head is definitely the best one out of the bunch. Kilmarlic is pretty good too, but it’s the most inland course and doesn’t drain nearly as well as the rest. I personally prefer Carolina Club to the Pointe out of the three across the sound. Because it’s a little further away than the rest, it’s always less busy and their conditioning is always fantastic. Currituck is pretty good, but way overpriced. Sea Scape is meh.

If y’all can make it work, I HIGHLY recommend making the trek to Scotch Hall Preserve. It’d be a good option on your way in or way out. It’s out on a peninsula in the albemarle sound, and it’s a sweet piece of property. Not pricey either. And, as always, tell Nate that Kesler sent you…
