How I imagine @a42na rolling into Monroe
Man hopped out the plane at Monroe Regional and had a heart attack
Following up on all those who have recommended Lakewood I also agree. They have a good short game practice facility that is open to the public.
Only downsides is you have to be in āproper golf attireā. May not be a downside for others, but I donāt wanna always wear a polo to just practice. Also the range is very spotty, if itās wet at all itās wedges only.
How yāall feel about a little match play or alt shot meet up? Not sure how many people we could pull together, but would definitely be nice to get a group together and have a good match.
Even if it is just a hit and giggle I think it would be good to get everyone in the area together.
I may be down for a NOLA meet up - if Latoya lifts the covid restrictions.
Anthony - some other options in NELA:
Morehouse Country Club - club is barely hangin on but only $30 for 18 - and the beer is cold - beat course for drainage after rain
Trails End - Arcadia - actually a decent public track - some elevation changes
Tallulah County Club - 9 hole track - bar is good - cheap for 18
I go to Morehouse the most - good people - low cost - cold beer - course was primo up to mid 2000s
Chennault & Frenchmans too muddy most of year
Iām staying in the loop on potential meet upā¦Iām in SWLA but still might be interested depending on what gets put together.
Valid point. I actually live up in Covington, so our restrictions are a lot different compared to Orleans Parish. Actually just got the e-mail today saying our company tournament is still on at Beau Chene in April.
Could always do it a course north of the city, but our entertainment is not near as good as New Orleans. Food for thought.
Well, Lakewood, English Turn, TPC are all outside of Orleans Parish.
Didnāt see a thread for Baton Rouge, anyone live in the area or play regular golf up this way? Looking for a regular group/developing a weekly league.
Iām over in Covington. Donāt mind the drive. Golf season is among us!
I have a friend coming to town in a couple weeks who wants to get out in New Orleans to play, nothing too far from french quarter, and we arenāt interested in TPC. Can anyone confirm the condition of Lakewood? Am I better off playing Bayou Oaks or elsewhere? Weāve done Audubon so weāre looking for something different. Most posts say Bayou is nice but boring and Lakewood is the best option.
Love me some Lakewood. Bayou Oaks is going to be closer to the Quarter, but what you have heard is correct. Nap fest of a layout.
You can always play Joe Bartholomew. Not far from the Quarter, hidden gem, $35-$40 for 18 and a cart (if I remember correctly?).
I have only played English Turn of the courses in that area. but on any return visits, I plan on checking out Bartholomew and the Audubon courses (maybe not in that order)
However, English Turn is only 20-25 minutes outside of town and it can be had for $40-60 depending on time and day. Itās an old Nicklaus course with some fun and quirky holes. Well manicured and everyone working there was extremely nice. Iirc hole 15 is a par5 with an island green that can be had in two on the right day.
English Turn was my first choice but weāre playing early on a Saturday. Tee times are reserved for members through late morning on weekends so weāre looking for next best. Lakewood it is!
Got a last minute opening at English Turn tomorrow morning. If anyoneās interested send me a note .
I will be in New Orleans for the length of the Zurich. Not going to the tourney Thursday or Friday so if anyone is down to play let me know.
I may be able to Thursday. Iāll be at the tournament Saturday and Sunday.
Hey All! Iām a long time NLU listener and viewer but just finally decided to join the Refuge. I try to play once a week, typically at TPC, but sometimes Audubon, City Park South, or Joe Bart. Would love to play with some of the folks on here
Iāll also be caddying at the Zurich pro-am on Wednesday and attending the tournament on Saturday if anyone wants to meet up there.
Cheers! Crack on
Hey @Sam_Levin, Iāll be out at the tournament Saturday and Sunday.
Itās been a while since Iāve been out to TPC, but been wanting a reason to get out and play it again. I usually play Audubon, Lakewood and Bartholomew. Wednesday and Fridays afternoons and Sundays are usually my go to days to play.
