Please re do this!
Hey Guys,
New nest guy living in Portsmouth. Home course is Cape Neddick in Maine but down to explore more VT and NH courses this year. I manage New England for a winery so I travel throughout each state at least 1x a month or so (and more if there’s stuff I want to do nearby). Very flexible schedule so ping me if you need golfers for anything or want to get out.
If anyone is near me shoot me a note and we’ll stay in touch as we slowly make our way back to golf season / want to hit some simulators up for a couple beers.
Matt
Sweet thanks! Could be fun to meet up with some nesticles once things open up for you guys to get an early start on my season
Drive down, play 36, drive back up kinda thing. Make it worthwhile
I’ll keep you posted as stuff opens down my way, I’m a bit far but I’d meet up more central NH / VT border type courses. Need to explore those more.
Yea that’d be great, please do! Signed up for the duck club event next summer but those guys are mostly near Toronto, a good 5h from the south shore of Montreal where I am.
Hey we (Hooper GC in NH which is about 35 minutes north of the MA border right of I91) usually open up the first week of April. Covid year we were planning to open up on like March 27th but we know how that turned out. But give a holler if you make it down!
Oh we will! Arctic Open is always the morning of Super Bowl Sunday. As a few folks here can attest we play in wind, snow, ice whatever. And same set up as last year with 11:00 tee time, teams of 4-5, $25/player, hole out by hitting your ball through the mini-field goals, prizes for the winning teams, and the Watkins Tavern will be open for drinks/food afterwards! Here are some scenes from the first - and snowiest - in 2021
Great will do!
I’m over in Brentwood and joined Candia for 2024. Would love to host/meet up with fellow Nest members in the area when the season starts up.
Spent my summers in NH playing Candia. Love that place. Who’s the pro now?
Im in bedford and joined intervale for 24. Played Candia a bunch the past couple of seasons. Would be happy to get out there with ya.
Brentwood gang rise up
Never done Candia. Name the date!
Head pro at Candia now is Craig McLaughlin. It’s one of the most fun courses around here I’ve played; width and angles for days and they get the greens running fast with tons of undulation. Everything breaks towards 101!
Nice. Ted Bishop was the long time pro from my youth. One of the best people in the golf business.
Awesome! Btw - huge fan and absolutely love your blog. I got back into golf during covid after a long break and having your course write-ups and pictures has been so helpful when trying courses for the first time.
Ah man, thank you so much. Glad it helped.
Blast from the past w/ the Ted Bishop reference! I worked at Candia’s “sister course”, The Oaks over in Somersworth while I was in college. The Harrity’s owned both clubs, and we used to coordinate a bit with the folks at Candia. Good people!
The Oaks just added a bunch of TopTracer bays to the range (getting them heated as well for year-round use). My in-laws live right around the corner, definitely will be there with my FIL a ton this winter.
