Roll Call: Nashville (Spring Match Play Post 1430)

I’m very bad at this even though I’ve been a Nest member forever. How do I transfer over from The Palmetto Golf Society over to The High Cotton Club? Do yall have a discord or WhatsApp?

We have a discord that @acrid or @Walton565 should be able to share with you!

Forgive my ignorance, as I’m new to this role, but I believe you should hit up this link. With that said, please don’t do it yet as the email associated it yet has yet to be changed from the previous Captains to mine. For the time being I will DM you the link to our discord.

Gonna be in Nashville for a bachelor party this weekend. I was in charge of making tee times Friday morning and the only thing I could find available was Twelve Stones. Anyone play lately? Curious how the conditions are, as I saw a disclaimer on their website last week about some dicey areas.

I played out there about a month ago and didn’t have any real qualms. They mentioned the sled tracks on the website but that didn’t bother me at all, just a little unsightly. I can’t recall any terribly awful spots on the greens, maybe a few spots are kinda bare, but no dead greens or anything drastic. It’s a little pricy for what it is, but most golf is these days. If you aren’t wanting to drive 45 minutes out of the city, I think Twelve Stones is an interesting layout and in more than serviceable condition.

Great to hear, appreciate it! Honestly the greens fees aren’t bad, but the $75 club rental is…less than ideal.

Random place to ask this but does anyone know why Todd Schuster hates Wes Bryan? He just mentioned that on a recent pod and I was curious where that came from?

Headed to Nashville this Saturday for a week. Wondering how conditions are looking - any courses to explicitly avoid based on the heat/end of summer? Planning to hit Harpeth and Hermitage…will have access to a car so I can go further afield if it’s justified. Recommendations/suggestions very appreciated, and if anyone needs a fourth and wants to make fun of my Canadian accent, let me know.

Hermitage should be in good shape but I have not been there in a bit.

The standard go to for best courses an hour ish outside of town (depending on where you’re staying) are Park Mammoth outside of Bowling Green, KY and Sewanee which is out towards Chattanooga. Those are both decent course, but also phenomenal courses.

Thanks for that. Hitting up Park Mammoth for an early morning round tomorrow. May make it to Sewanee as well, if not will play somewhere a little closer to Nashville later in the week (possibly weekday) and certainly Saturday am. Will it be hard to walk onto one of the munis as a single on a Saturday morning?

you should be fine as a single at most of the munis

Park Mammoth let me out as a single at like 10 AM on a Saturday last month. Couldn’t believe it.

@davis.harold13 - I clicked into your profile… is your dad Ray Pearce?

Literally the guy who taught me how to swing a club when I was 12 at Champions Run if so. Wow.

Hahah that’s correct. The Legend himself. I thought I could stay incognito here and scope out any shit talking of Champions Run

Man, what a trip. That’s awesome. This would have been early 2000s, probably 2002. My middle school golf team played at Champions Run, and I wanna say my high school team did for freshman year as well maybe before moving to Cedar Crest?

Anyways, fond memories of that course and that part of my childhood. Haven’t been back in at least 15 years, but they were great to us kids.

HCC, looking for help. I’m going to be in Nashville Oct 28th twiddling my thumbs till 4p, but there’s better ways to spend a day → Namely, golfing. That said, neither Mammoth or Sewanee seem to book tee times on Mondays. Anywhere in the region ya’ll are gonna point me at before I spin the roulette wheel of munis?

I’m also willing to attempt to defend the FcF’s honor after the beat down at the RCC with a home and home challenge from my 10hcp ass - send somebody to play with me, then come up to Grand Rapids MI and we’ll play on my turf. Am I any good? No, I am not. But consider it an attempt to build inter-roost relations and a reason to setup a future destination round you might not otherwise play

In the Nashville area, I know that one of the favorites amongst HCC is The Legacy where we have our end of season tournament. @Jrob0822 is our local expert for that one.
