Can’t wait for this stuff to be off my phone
The real question is who’s the Big Surprise?!
3:1 Kid Rock
5:1 Morgan Wallen
7:1 John Rich
Something I had not considered until someone mentioned it the other day: the practice area is definitely in the slice line of fire off of the second tee. Conservatively estimating that 95% of Percy players are slicers, how long before we think that short game area closes?
Played Percy opening day yesterday. I think it delivered on everything they billed it as.
6 becoming a par 3 is a bummer, but the green is interesting (which is an upgrade over my not remembering what the green used to be).
Also ran into a buddy finishing up his second 9 of the day. A guy in his group earned the first ace of the reopening… with an albatross on 8.
Fingers crossed they can maintain it. The clubhouse told us we were their 200th tee time of the day - I’m assuming they opened at sunrise or something, otherwise the math on that is a little odd.
Played Percy Warner opening day. The reno is a real treat that I have been waiting for since I played for the first time. Some photos (contrast is bumped way up to better show ground contours)
My brain has been stuck on this since seeing it. Surely one of you were the #200 of the day… 800 players on a 9 hole golf course would be scary.
Either way, if the staff really said 200th tee time, my fears may be manifesting very early… It takes more than grounds crew, it’s going to take a solid staff inside — and that’s more than folks teaching junior golf.
@pearcebarr appreciate the pictures, excited to see it for myself
it wasn’t super busy when I was there. Felt like a normal amount of people to be on a public course for a weekend morning. Rounds were quick though due to the course being short and it being very hard to lose a ball out there. We played in an 1:45, and were waiting on the teebox of most holes.
I’ll second this. It moved very quickly.
A guy in my group works with the clubhouse guy’s wife and said it was his first day out since they had their first child, so the 200 may have been some new dad brain fog.
I think they also had some preview play from donors and whatnot before last weekend
Preview day was Friday with a reception.
Played Percy again yesterday after worked. Teed off around 4:35 and finished at like 6:10. Waited on most tees for the group ahead of us. As of now, pace of play is great out there.
EAL and the Random Boys must have been there that day.
I would like to add that the worst part of the Percy Warner rennovation is the new logo. Fuckign stinks.
Anyone know anything about Tennessee Grasslands northeast of Nashville? Moved to Cookeville and looking at memberships on the east side of Nashville to avoid added traffic to the one hour drive.
Idk about pricing these days, but it’s been the best club north of Nashville for several years despite multiple changes in management. Foxland is legitimately better than most of the courses south of town and hosts a state event every few years.
I believe Roost has a few members at Grasslands, but I know some have gone to either Bluegrass or Twelve Stones after price increases at TNG
Edit: Welcome to the area!
lol I think I like it actually.
Did they have merch?
Much merch.
Ok thanks for info! I sent
Them an email so will see what they say about pricing for junior family member.
Reminds me that I need to get involved with the Roost here. I’ll be transplanting from the Palmetto Golf Society.
My biggest gripe with that logo is that the W is more forward than the P. Feel like it should be opposite. Otherwise, I like it.
Also, other than the last weekend in July, I’m off everyday until 8/1 if anyone needs a golf partner. I may look into driving up towards Park Mammoth one day
have a buddy wearing a PW hat out at the lake with us right now and thought about this:
I think it’s because the Warners are so integral, right? Percy Warner, Edwin Warner. The W is the important part.
