I’ve got 4 passes for Sweetens tomorrow that I’m not sure I can use. Any takers?
First of all, thank you for your interest in our Roost, The High Cotton Club. In the summer of 2021, we formed The High Classic with the mission of creating a fun, fair, and competitive environment for like-minded folks to meet people and form new friendships. Fast forward a bit and the boys over at No Laying Up came out with their idea to form similar groups around the country in an effort to form communities of golf sickos. Now, we couldn’t be much more excited to be moving forward as an NLU Roost.
While our mission is to bring like-minded folks together to enjoy fellowship through golf, there’s still a competition ahead of us. As a Roost, we will be sending a team to face the two Roosts from North Carolina for the chance to advance to the nationwide Club Championship. To determine who qualifies, we’ll be hosting one-day events, monthly, throughout the season in addition to our match play event, The High Cotton Classic. These one-day events, or “Round-Ups” will each have a certain number of qualifying spots (TBA) with two super-qualifiers, or “Rodeos”, holding double the amount of qualifying spots. While the winners of the High Cotton Classic Championship and Consolation Brackets will receive automatic bids onto the Regional team, all Round Up/Rodeo qualifiers will face off at one final Showdown to determine who will make the squad. Additionally, members who play in 3 or more events will automatically qualify for the Showdown.
Our first Round-Up will be Saturday, January 8 at Two Rivers GC in Nashville, TN. “The Handshake” will be played as an optional fourball format, with partners determined at random from “A” and “B” pods. Players will compete as 2 man teams, then group scores will be combined post round in order to score a separate 4 man competition. We’ll also be featuring a skins game, Closest to the Pin, and Longest Drive contests. In true High Cotton fashion, we’ll be donating a portion of everyone’s fee to the High Cotton Relief Fund, an emergency fund dedicated to directly serving individuals in communities in our area affected by tragedy. Not to mention, the first two qualifying spots for “The Showdown” are up for grabs. For those who choose to opt-in for the competition, your fee will $90 for your golf, buy in for the money games, donation to the HCRF, and your member bag tag. For those who choose to opt-out of the competition, but still want to play, your fee will be $60 for your golf, member bag tag and donation to the HCRF. Two Rivers has requested one payment from the group, so you can Venmo @highcottonconnor and I’ll get everyone’s fees dialed in. Please reach out to me directly if you are a Two Rivers member, or if you plan to walk, when you sign up. I think I speak for all of us when I say we’re more than excited to get everyone together for the first time as an official Roost.

Wish I could make the Handshake, but we’ll have 2, week and a half olds. Hopefully I’ll be able to make it down for the next one.
(Lol, deleted bc I didn’t directly reply)
I’ll have the full season schedule dialed in the next week or so, just waiting to confirm with the golf courses! If all goes as currently planned, we’ll be at Old Fort in Murfreesboro on February 12
Let’s goooooooo

LFG Gentlemen
Welcome!
Merry Christmas to all, and to all no top flites!
Would love to make The Handshake, but coaching my daughters BBall team and we have a game that day.
We’ll see you at the next one!
I’m in! Looking forward to it. Two Rivers is an underrated gem and home to the best par 3 in the municipal system.
Gonna need to know… 11?
11 is a favorite for me but honestly I really like all the par 3’s out there which is rare. My only gripe is I tend to hit a lot of the same irons into all of them…
Definitely #11, just a very good looking hole.
@boomersooner523 - I agree all the par 3s are interesting out there. Love the view on #8 and generally has a lot of exposure to the wind. The aforementioned #11. #14 can be brutal in the summer when it is dry since the green is 25 ft downhill from the tee, green tilts front to back and pretty hard left to right. Seen A LOT of people over the back on that green on what they thought was a perfect shot.
Are we playing the blues out there for the handshake?
First of all, love the discussion. I haven’t played out there in a long time, but went out to cover the semi-final in the previous High Cotton Classic. I agree, the par 3’s are among the best in the area as a collective group
As for The Handshake, we’ll make a decision closer to the day of based on conditions (moisture/temperature/wind)
As a former resident I would like to inquire about a possible national membership into the high cotton club. @VandyLand can vouch that I’m a a scoundrel and my only good attribute is that I’m not afraid to try any wedge shot. Why live if you can go for the high flop or the low spinner.
@adodgerfan Once/if I have established myself as a member in good standing with the HCC I will write you a letter of recommendation. As it is unlikely that I will ever win any of the money at these events (skins would mean I would have to actually convert birdie chances, long drive…LOL, ditto for CTTP) I will probably operate more as a corporate sponsor than a participant so maybe you can be my “exemption.”
In all seriousness, it is a shame this all kicked off once you moved back to LA. Hopefully there is a SoCal @leftysauce out there for you.
I’m taking local membership in Lowcal roost. But if I happen to be there for a HCC event I may have to join as a guest. Enjoy all the courses except Opryland. That place sucks ( really management, course is fine)
National members are more than welcome! While national members are not eligible for qualification outside of their home roost, we welcome all who wish to join. Just follow the link below to join and follow our Instagram (@thehighcottonclub) for our Discord link. Sincerely hope you can make it out for an event or two!
Also, 100% agree with Gaylord Springs, as I think most of our group does. We don’t have any events there on our potential schedule.
