I’ve known Chase, the GM, through the industry for a few years now and he’s a great guy… 12 Stones was my first golf job, when it was so bad no one played and we had aeration holes bigger than the coin you used to mark your ball… I haven’t played it since the First Edition of the HCC over the summer, but it was a world better than it used to be. I think they’ve had some flooding and other small issues set them back, but they’re striving to improve and I appreciate that.
We chose 12 Stones for The High Cotton Round Up because of its central location. With players spread from Murfreesboro to Clarksville, I tried to find a place that could service the most of us conveniently.
As far as redesign/moving holes around… They’re so limited by the neighborhood, I’m not sure what all they could do to improve the layout… Maybe increase the size of the shelf in the fairway on 14? There’s some small things they could probably do, so there’s certainly a discussion to be had… But before they do any of that, flat tee boxes around the entire course will be a much welcomed improvement.
I have a buddies birthday and we rarely get a crew together on a Saturday so I don"t think I will be able to attend but I am 100% doing the next one. I have been wanting to get out in a format like this and get in a competitive mode more than the one or two member guests and a golf trip…
I really like 12 Stones and I enjoy the fact that some of the holes are really hard and kinda quirky. I think #10 is a dumb hole because you can hit the fairway in the middle and be totally screwed by a right pin location. They just need to cut down some of the trees on the right and it would be a GREAT risk reward hole with the creek running through and the thick shit on the right behind the creek.
#14 is the worst hole in middle TN hands down. I would rather them just break the rule on back to back par 3’s and convert it to a long or short downhill par 3. 14 doesn’t really hurt me on the scorecard but it sure is a waste of space.
If you’re in the Mt. Juliet or mid-state area at all, go check out GolfRx. Big S/O to Seth Grissom for getting me dialed in with my new utility iron. If you’re in need of a fitting or repair, this spot is worth visiting!
I am close by! My house is just south in Inglewood. I am 100% going to keep up with any updates on the 3rd edition and will have no issues getting a partner convinced lol.
@tanner_sandel - Seth is awesome. I had my driver fit out there by the guy who used to own it who started the whole thing. I think they have some big plans to expand. Great guy to deal with. Working in Mt Juliet I will find myself just stopping by to see what’s going on.
I’ve got this coming Monday and Tuesday off if anyone wants to get out and play. Kinda want to branch out and play somewhere outside of Nashville one of the days. Weather looks great…
There was somebody on here that posted about setting up match play tournament in the nashville area outside of nlu. I was wondering if anyone remembers that person.
The High Cotton Classic is expanding from 32 here in Middle TN this past fall to 64 in the Spring, with the addition of KY/AL and an eventual High Cotton Cup between the states. Final details are still getting dialed in (slower than I would like, but I’ll have them finished in the next few days)…
To be eligible, just shoot your GHIN or WHS# over to highcottoncattle@gmail.com… Also, make sure you follow @thehighcottonclassic on Instagram and Facebook. Feel free to shoot me a message anytime.
After some feedback from #TheRoundUp last Saturday, it seems like the people want another get together before the Third Edition starts, so keep an eye out for that as well
I plan on checking out the Nest pod in the morning and figuring out whatever we need to do to get it done… We already have a strong network of players and it’s only getting stronger. I have no doubt we can get it done and make it something really cool
