That looks like a group I would like to join up with.
That’s a lot of blue in that pic, surely making @Soly proud! How was the course? Been aching to play it myself.
Team Blue is a life style.
The course was awesome. Greens were super speedy with lots of movement but the pins were dastardly… balls were ripping back or checking which was cool.
The company was top notch. A very sincere thank you to @KC_Badger , Mrs. Badger, and @bignanski for allowing me to come along for the day. It was gorgeous.
Course is a little soft imo but otherwise fantastic. No surprise they’re watering heavily through the drought we’re having
I know most of us are in the nest, but is it bad that playing something “soft” was kind of fun for a change? Lots of places have been rock hard through the summer, so experiencing something different was kind of cool
The greens were still fairly quick, it just takes some of the fun out of the contours when it’s soft. I am also an entitled millennial and I expect pristine conditioning when I pay over $100 for public golf
You’re just jazzed to be spinning shit back
I mean, yeah.
I saw that @Mystic you know I play in all conditions, including 37 degrees and frozen greens. I’m entitled to enjoy an approach day where I can feel like I’m a bad hombre
@Battisstatus its always nice to able to land the ball on non-frozen greens!
If this passes and they shut down, it will be interesting to see where their members get reciprocal tee times.
ICC has been extremely stingy on times. Didn’t allow any times when other clubs closed for big projects (Minikahda, Minneapolis, Oak Ridge, etc.), which feels like really bad karma.
Troy could be so good if they had Stoneridge’s maintenance team and budget. It’s hard not to spin it back at Troy when every iron and wedge shot makes an exploding ballmark (that most people don’t fix out there).
The latter point was very apparent. I made one comment aloud for sure, mostly because I expect it on public courses but to a lesser degree when the green fees are excessive. You can pay that much for golf and don’t know/care how to fix a pitch mark? Much more of a knock on the patronage than the maintenance team.
Not fixing for sure is on the people that play. However, Troy literally sends an email out in the fall where they brag about not aerating. There is nothing healthy about that long-term. Stoneridge punches and dumps truckloads of sand making it fast and firm the next season. I love Troy’s back 9 layout and would love to see it get a facelift sometime in the future.
I’m playing in the TGJ 2 man at Hazeltine on Monday the 23rd. I fly in the 20th but am tied up with work and a class that day.
Would love to play with some refugees on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday (I don’t fly out until 8 pm).
I posted this more than a month ago and do remember someone posting about a group at their club that goes out on Tuesday afternoons, not sure if that works but didn’t want to leave that nice offer hanging out there.
Anyone around? Suggestions?
Second question: I’m staying near Mall of America (apparently) Can I Uber to most places or should I rent a car?
I’ve got a 9:40 time on Sunday 8/22 at StoneRidge if that interests you. Bit of a drive from MOA if you’re ubering though.
Anyone playing golf anywhere tomorrow? I mixed up my days and suddenly find myself with a kid free Sunday
Not that many remember, but I talked with the Pro at New Richmond Golf Club, and he is down to host a informal outing in September. Due to my own previous obligations (damn weddings) looking at either Sunday the 19th, or the weekend of the 25th and 26th. Consider this the official preliminary interest poll, I think if I get enough numbers, there is a chance of doing the reversible 9 both ways, but otherwise would likely just be the Championship 18.

This sounds like a hell of a time, I am all the way in.
@Snellspace interested in this meetup? I think you’re in town
