My man!
I appreciate everything you’re saying but polishing a turd simply means you have a slightly better looking turd. Still dead last in the Baxter rankings of private MN courses
Has the Baxter private club ranking been posted before?
WBYC
Northland
MN Valley
Woodhill
Windsong
Midland Hills
Hazeltine
Somerset
North Oaks
Edina
Olympic Hills
TPC
Bracketts
Southview
Mendakota
Bearpath
I misspoke…only Bearpath is worse than Mendakota. Also, I can be talked into Hazeltine moving down the rankings. Thinking below North Oaks is a good spot.
Fully expect Midland to move into the top 3 once I play the reno
If it weren’t for those Langford holes across Mendota road, would Southvire slide below Mendakota?
(Worth noting both those courses thrive/exist based on proximity to Eagan, which famously has no private and now no public golf in the city limits. (I don’t count lost spur as eagan))
Yeah, Southview stinks and without those holes it would drop a spot or two.
Only reason I have it ahead of Mendakota is there’s 1-2 holes I really enjoyed, where Mendakota didn’t have anything that stuck with me
Above Mn Valley! Sinner
It’s not a done deal…we’ll see if Mr. Urbina did his job right!
I’m getting out there Sunday afternoon. Will let you know how it turned out.
I’m assuming your review will focus on the fairways and greens. Remember that I see the WHOLE property (water, OB, lots and lots of rough)
Can’t wait to hear what you think!
Smart to get the full experience.
I think Midland will be moving up your rankings. It looks great with the new greens and bunkers. DO NOT HIT IT IN THE FESCUE. ITS THICCCCCCCC. Course was great condition as expected. The 8th shredded our group to pieces. Pin was in the very front, let’s just say we had to hit numerous shots from below the green. Only hole change was #5 is now a par 4 instead of a par 5. Overall, it’s incredible.
Just gonna piggyback off of you with some more photos from my round there before the NSS for those who didn’t see it in the other thread I posted them in.
The 4th (Short) is so freaking cool with the 2 trees around the green
The 8th is uh, well, let’s just say it’s absolutely terrifying for all golfers.
The punchbowl on 14 is awesome, you hit it to where I’m standing and it’ll roll all the way down
I just wanted to take a pic of this sick pin on 15.
I wanna be you when I grow up
Listen, I haven’t done much here but mooch off of people who have connections to sweet courses. One day I hope to return the favor of hosting you all at the Purple Hawk but that is not even close to equaling the generosity ya’ll have given me. Sincere thanks to all of you who have welcomed a 22 year old golf sicko to the C-Suite.
I will also play Shamrock with anyone who is willing to. Just reiterating that I’m still about that Strapped lyfe.
Need to send someone a note and get out there. It looks too good to miss.
Playing MN Valley on Sunday, so that should give me an opportunity to re-visit its spot on my rankings. New course will be making its debut in the Baxter MPCR (Minnesota Private Course Rankings) next Tuesday. Has a real chance to crack the top 2-3
Based on your list I’m going to guess either Spring Hill or Interlachen?
I just want to learn your ways of appreciating (and detonating) courses.
Yeah, ICC is on tap. I feel like Spring Hill is best in the fall when all the leaves are changing colors.
Still have a gap of Minikahda, Golden Valley CC and Rochester on my resume.
As (I believe) one of the only Rochesterians on the Refuge - if I ever find a way onto RGCC I’ll be sure to hit you up!
